  • Great little banjo Uke, especially considering the price.
Size: Concert Banjo Ukulele
I don't see how they can sell this package for the price. It's definitely worth it. Once I got the bridge properly placed, there were no intonation problems. (IMO, the bridge placement ruler is about one millimeter off). Frets were almost smooth. First and second position good, as you go up the neck there are some sharp edges, but I don't play up there. It's certainly a sturdily built little banjo. I think the strings really might be Aquilas, because I used this banjo on an outside gig and it stayed in tune. Speaking of which: I have played tenor banjo for years in a Traditional Jazz Band. As my hands have gotten arthritic now that I'm over 60, I had been looking for an alternative axe. Surprisingly, this little banjo uke will cut through four horns playing dixieland if you use a pick. The other thing you have to do is open up the "resonator," which actually acts more as a dampener UNLESS you open it up so the sound can get out. What I did was purchase some half-inch rubber washers and inserted them between the "resonator" and the rim. That's all it took to let the sound out so this little guy could keep up with the band. Highly recommended. In fact, this was the second one I've purchased. Kmise makes a really nice product with this little banjo ukulele ... show more

  • Real quality at a great price
Size: Concert Banjolele Kit
OK, I did not NEED another ukulele, most especially not a banjo ukulele. But I admit to suffering from what a friend calls "ukulele acquisition syndrome". When I read the professional reviews for this banjolele, I really wanted it. Then I found the great price on Amazon, and I was hooked. I have been playing my Kmise almost daily in the weeks since it arrived. It is as easy to play as my best ukes, and it sounds great on my folk repertoire, including, especially, the sea shanties that my uke club loves. (I must admit that I return to my regular ukes for romantic songs and many show tunes.) ... show more

  • Good starter banjo
Size: Remo Head, with 2 Tuning Wrench,
Got this banjo 3 years ago. Never played before so didn't want to spend a lot. I have been very happy. It needed new strings and the frets had to be smoothed on the sides. It stays in tune. Sound quality is good. Quality of actual banjo is good. Plays a little flat on some frets. If you can find someone who works on banjos should be an easy fix. I am very happy. Discovered I like playing and I am upgrading This Christmas. I am still a novice but would recommend this banjo for beginners. ... show more

  • This thing's great!
Size: Tenor Banjolele
Head needed to ne tightened. I put wrapped classical guitar strings on it an octave lower than typical uke. Had to modify the tail piece to accomodate the strings, but that's o.k. Great instrument, really unbelievable for the price. I really like the neck, just a narrower than regular uke.

  • Missing items, poor customer service experience
Size: Remo Head, with 2 Tuning Wrench,
I purchased this banjo as ‘used-like new,’ and it was described as including a tuner, picks, strap, spare springs, and other accessories. Only the banjo, tuner, and case arrived in the package—extremely annoying! I followed amazon’s instructions in case of problems and emailed the selling company Kmise’s customer service asking for help, but they never replied. The banjo itself is of reasonably good quality and it would be hard for me to replace it in time for my needs, so I have decided not to return it. Since I didn’t receive all the promised items, though, the value of this purchase was significantly less than expected. Worst of all, the company is non-responsive about problems! I wish I could leave a good review since the banjo itself is a solid value for a beginner instrument, but because of the issues with fulfillment and customer service, I can’t recommend purchasing this banjo or any other instruments from this company. ... show more

  • Holds tuning well
Size: Remo Head, with 2 Tuning Wrench,
It has e great tone and holds the tuning very well. I had a little difficulty setting up the floating bridge but the included guide helped a lot. There are several videos out there that help with setting up the instrument as well.

  • Unique voice
Size: Concert Banjolele
I’m not a uke or banjo player. I play guitar in Irish sessions and someone brought one to the session. It was loud enough to hear over the rest and it looked cool. My instrument came in good condition without a case or gig bag. I didn’t get the cool package with all that. I tuned up and started playing. It’s got a consistent tone with a unique voice. I don’t think there’s much usable neck beyond the third or fourth fret. Not much sound anyway but it seems most uke players are always using first position chords. That being said, I’m satisfied with the instrument but sorry I missed buying the package with the case, tuner and whatever else they included. ... show more
