I never write reviews, but I'm making an exception. I almost didn't buy this lamp because of all the reviews saying the wires didn't fit, and/or the tubes wouldn't screw together. I figured for the price I'd give it a shot and would just return it if I had similar problems. I had the lamp assembled in 2 minutes...no issues. However, I see where people may have gotten tripped up. When you screw the rods together you have to pull the excess wire through the base so there is no slack. This isn't mentioned in the instructions but seemed pretty straightforward to me. I understand that assembly might not be everyone's strong suit, but that isn't the products fault. As far as the lamp goes, it's exactly what I expected, a good cheap lamp. I know a review like this would have been helpful to me in making a decision, so I figured maybe it'd be helpful to you. ... show more

I ordered one of these lights for my son's dorm back in August. When we received it, the threads on the center posts weren't tight enough to stay together. Customer service was great and replaced it without issue. The new one was assembled and seemed to be fine. I recently ordered another one for my office. Screwed it together and it stood straight for about a day, then it slowly started bending into the mess you see in the picture. I was going to return it for a replacement until I spoke to my son and he told me his did the same thing. The center post in this lamp is made up of 5 individual pieces that screw together. As you can see from the close-up picture, there are very few threads on each piece. No way this thing will ever stand up straight for long. Spend a few extra dollars and buy something solid. Don't even give this one a try because packing it back into the original box to return it is a nightmare!! ... show more

    • Weak side lamp stalk. Not recommended

The lamp is very poorly constructed, in my opinion. By design the side lamp can be repositioned. But, the the side lamp stalk is way too weak. Simply twisting the switch to turn it on, moves the side lamp. That means you'll have to reposition the side lamp every time you turn it on. I have two of these, one on each side of the desk. Both have the same issue. I have a similar lamp from another vendor in another room. The similar lamp does not have this issue to this degree, as long as I simply twist the power, it stays in position. So, to me this is an issue with this specific lamp, not the lamp type. I'd not recommend this lamp when there are others which are better constructed and in the same price range available. ... show more

TL;DR: Same lamp as from Walmart. If you can get it from Walmart, get it there because it's cheaper. This is the same exact model of floor lamp as you can get at Walmart (Mainstays 72'' Combo Floor Lamp with Adjustable Reading Lamp). We've had good experiences with them: they take common bulb types, are nice and bright, and reasonably sturdy. One of them started failing after many years of use, and it was time to replace it. Side by side, this one and an older one from Walmart are indistinguishable. So if you like Walmart's cheap floor lamp like we do, you'll like this. I usually buy these at Walmart, and they are a good deal cheaper there, but when I was trying to buy one a few weeks ago, they weren't shipping them - you either had to go into the store or do a curbside pickup to get it from Walmart. I'm not going in there during the pandemic if I can help it, nor did I want to spend time or gas driving over there, so I guess I paid a convenience fee in a way by buying it from Amazon. I just looked now while I was writing this, and of course NOW they are available to ship from Walmart. Just goes to show how much things can change in a few weeks' time. ... show more

Works great. A lot people were worried about the plastic shades but they barely get warm. Some also said that the base was unstable but I don't see how, I have it on carpet and even if I bump into it lightly it will wobble back into place.

I would give a worse rating if possible. I have bought some terrible things on Amazon. Knowing exactly that the incredibly low price that I paid almost promised me a terrible product. But most serve their purpose for at least a short while. This POS lamp couldn't even stand under it's own weight. I assembled the product out of the box, and then attempted to plug it in The "collapsible" stem of the lamp did just that, and broke in three different places. The cheap construction of the threading makes it impossible to support it's own weight. Do not waste your money on this crap. ... show more

UPDATED 2 MONTHS IN----DO NOT BUY This lamp began having electrical issues that were not related to the bulbs or socket. Flickering, strange noises - clear sign of a fire hazard. I tried different bulbs and testing the power outlet with a fluke meter and it was clearly the lamp having issues. The 3 way light also stopped working and would only do on/off. So - I unplugged it and put it in the trash. Save your money and buy a different lamp from a trusted brand, because i can guarantee this cheap lamp isn't worth a house fire. Previous review---- This is a very low quality lamp. When unboxing I noted that the pieces were carefully wrapped in plastic but they did not fit correctly into the styrofoam shipping mold. There were obvious dents and scratches on almost every metal piece of the lamp, right out of the box. Some scratches looked like they could be from the manufacturing process - careless handling during production. The metal washers on the base and switches are a dissimilar (very cheap) metal that is scratched and rough. The switch on the reading light is different from the switch on the torchiere light. It almost seems like it was put together from a combination of new and spare parts. All in all, you get what you pay for in this. Very low quality, with major downsides. ... show more
