We go camping with our RV and some spots claim they have WiFi but the signal is weak because they don’t have extenders. In any case we’ve found out because now we are there and are faced with that issue. I have researched a lot and for a long time. I saw some but my issue was that you would need a monthly plan and we still work full time and only go out for 5-7 days. So a monthly plan was overkill. I didn’t want to drill hole on or in my camper (another draw back). Then I discovered first Solis Lite but still didn’t jump on it. I loved the concept but I never bought it. Forgot about it for a while. Went on some camping trips had good WiFi, forgot about it a little more. Then came across the 5g Solis. This one did spark my interest a little bit more so I dove into the actual website to find out more about it. I was taken aback that not only does the work here in the states but over seas too. No SIM card so you aren’t married to just one cellphone carrier (big plus for me)! It works internationally and we do travel. It was very easy almost a no brainer not to get it. So I added it to my cart (that’s a big thing if you make it to my cart). I kept looking and researching it and on prime day the price went down significantly which made it even easier to hit checkout; and I did. I told my coworkers about it because he too was looking for something and he bought it too. So life after 6 months with it- still amazing! I even take it to work with me because signal is bad in my office. When we’ve gone camping, it has made streaming super easy (15yr son gaming at night). Battery last pretty decent and everything is done online through the website. Which makes purchasing more when you need it very easy. Again I love it, my coworker loves his.     • My experience with solis wifi hotspot
So i finally got the package and i opened the box. Solis looked flawless in its construction. I feel like this device lasts for a few years to a decade. Works properly. Can order internet using the life time 1gb internet. Accepts sim cards from many internet providers. Has slot for sim card. Easy user interface to work with. This is a life saver and will help. Interent connection speed is fast enough. You get pages loaded up in a few milliseconds. Solis is full of soul yes. Its true. Solis will fill you up with soul. ... show more

    • This has been an enormous waste of money.
My reasons for purchasing this were two-fold. 1. My son plays a lot of tournament baseball games and I usually livestream them on YouTube. These locations are usually not remote (I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex) but seldom have Wifi available. 2. I wanted to be able to get an Internet signal at our lakehouse, which is more remote but can usually get some signal. I was hopeful that the promised feature of using multiple carriers would benefit us there as some carriers get better signal in this area than others. The price (~$400 at the time of purchase) seemed reasonable with the included 1gig of data per month for life. I also purchased some additional data that would roll over to the next month if unused. What I did not anticipate was how poor the signal was, even in areas with good cell phone signal. Again, I live in one of the most densely populated areas of the country. Streaming baseball games would have a poor, unstable signal which would invariably drop off and kill the stream for parents trying to watch their kid play baseball remotely. I have gone back to using my cellphone hot spot, which is inconvenient and has data limits that I hit pretty quickly, but has a much better quality. After this I was doubtful that service at the lakehouse was worth trying, and my suspicions proved correct. I get some cellphone reception in this area with my phone, but nothing with this $400 hunk of plastic. I wish I had returned this in time. Don't make the same mistake I did. ... show more

    • Overseas flexibility without hassle
Having traveled overseas depending on hotel wifi in the past, we first tried a mobil hotspot in Japan and loved it. With a phone set to Wifi calling, we were able to make calls and receive text messages just like in the states. As we were traveling to Switzerland via the UK this October, I took the plunge and purchased the Solis 5G hotspot after looking at various options. I was not disappointed. We never had any connectivity issues in Switzerland or the UK. Using SIMO's data package, we did not need to find a local/regional SIM card or carrier as the hotspot automatically finds the best network connection. It is easy to setup your devices with this hotspot once in the menus using an OCR code to scan. My only negative would be size/weight. It has a large battery which didn't require regular charging for the use my wife and I put it thru. As such it's a little larger than other hotspots, but as more connections are made (think 4 people traveling together) the larger battery would come into play. Pros: Appeared to be able to find and connect to the "best" network, its main selling point, mission accomplished. Portable size and solid build. With soft bumpers around four corners. USB-C charging. Cons: No native IOS application, has to access via web. It does get a little warm. The viewing angle of screen is rather poor, begging for a better-quality display. The charging speed is on the lower side, hooked up with a powerful USB-C charger, it only goes up to 5Volts 2 Amps, maxed out at 10Watt, could be better. As expected, data is on the expensive side. An unlimited day pass of $9 could be good option, or shell out $33 for 10G of popular destination. It basically has four tiers, Global 135+, US, US+Canada+Purto Rico+Mexico, and Popular Destinations, would be nice to have continents/geography-based locations. ... show more

We just bought this and have used on a quick weekend trip. Worked great! Now my husband is using it in Europe and he is working so well for him. The great thing about it is your don’t have to connect to the hotel WiFi. We would highly recommend!
