  • Very crisp for the low price.

The sharpness and clarity in this scope are amazing for the price point, light weight and size is typical.

  • A real bargain - higher than expected quality.
Size: 3-9x50mm Color: Matte Black
This scope is quite a bargain - well worth the money. I had been looking at a Nikon ProStaff scope, but the price was a little much for me as a casual shooter. I read the reviews and took a chance on this Simmons scope and was pleasantly surprised. As an astronomy buff, I was not sure I would be happy with the optical quality of the scope. I did notice that there is some barrel distortion and color fringing - especially noticeable above 7x, but the color fringing is limited to the edge of the field and the barrel distortion (the appearance that the field is curved, rather than flat) is well corrected when my eye is at the correct distance. Eye relief is fine, I wear glasses, and no-line bifocals at that; this scope still gives me a clear view edge to edge when the rifle is held in shooting stance. The 50mm objective gives plenty of light, and resolves details very well. I have no problem picking out the individual strands in a barb-wire fence from 100 meters out at 7x. The scope was easy to zero (no tools required) and the controls were quite precise. One 20-round magazine was sufficient to zero in my Mossberg 223 at 100 yards, and to learn how to compensate accurately out to 200 yards - the limit of my personal accuracy and shooting comfort. I would have preferred a more sophisticated reticle - but the simple triplex reticle will likely be sufficient for me in 95% of the shooting situations I'll find myself in. The build is excellent, and I hope to get many years of service from this scope. ... show more

  • Really nice for the price. Not sure if it can be used on an air rifle.
Size: 3-9x50mm Color: Matte Black
Nice. Bright and clear. I Mounted on it on the kid's Ruger 10/22. I wanted a cheap scope so I wouldn't have to worry about it getting damaged. It turns out this is a really nice scope for the money! Nothing feels cheap about it. It is easy to zero and is holding zero. I think I'll get another for my 30/06! BTW, I saw a few negative reviews on this scope being used and failing on an air rifle, My guess it's not to be used on a spring or nitro powered air gun. I bet the reverse recoil is tearing it up, even a high dollar scope can be ruined by an air gun. Best to stick to a dual recoil scope or one made made for reverse recoil if you need one for an air gun. That being said, I would be careful with compensators and muzzle breaks. However, my 10/22 has a 6" flash hider (side ported) on it and the scope is holding up fine. ... show more

  • Good scope, Great price.
Size: 3-9x50mm Color: Matte Black
(By the husband of "momtoall5.") Just received the Simmons 3-9X50mm rifle scope. I am quite impressed with it so far. I say so far because I have not had the chance to mount it yet as I will explain later. Initial impression of the scope was positive. Very nice looking scope with lens caps and cleaning cloth. Feels well constructed and solid. Now, I don't get overly excited about scopes in general, it's a scope. I looks like any other scope. I have used very few scopes in my life having preferred to use open sights. I do have a few cheap scopes around though and I have one mounted on my .22 cal air rifle I use for squirrel hunting. It is a 4X32 that came standard with the gun and it leaves alot to be desired which was my reason for getting this scope to begin with. Having nothing more than that cheap 4x32 scope to use as an "average" scope (or 3 stars) I have to say this is well above average. The magnification of this scope at the lowest setting gives me a crisper, brighter image than the 4x32 by far. (Also seems to be equal in magnification) At the most powerful setting (9x) ,with a properly sighted in rifle, you could easily maintain a 1" grouping at 100 yrds. By the way, the parallax is set to 100 yards. As for mounting, be sure to get yourself rings which will allow clearance of the 50mm objective lens. If your rifle has a dovetail, it may be easier to pick up a dovetail to picatanny rail adapter so you get more options. Unfortunately, My rings and rail adapter have not arrived yet so I haven't been able to mount this on my rifle. But, that's okay because I was so pleased with the optics that I decided it needed a better rifle to be mounted on...and it hasn't arrived yet either. Now for the downside. The only one I have so far and it's not anything major. The "audible" clicks on the windage and elevation adjustments are more like pauses with no click what so ever. You can most generally feel where those stops are supposed to be, but it's very easy to go right past one or two if you aren't turning slowly. Other than that, I am pleased with the scope. If anything changes after it is mounted, I will update this review. ... show more

  • It works incredibly well.
Size: 3-9x50mm Color: Matte Black
Several years ago I built a 6.5 Swedish Mauser to hunt with. The rifle was completely rebuilt to be lightweight and accurate by bedding the action etc. I bought the scope because #1, I could afford it and #2 it was lightweight plus a 50mm objective. Since the rifle was light and the scope was also light they were a perfect match. I sighted everything in and it has stayed on zero for years now. I've killed deer at 140+ yards. It's always dead on the money. It's shocking that a scope this cheap is outperforming many other brands much more expensive. It doesn't have the bells and whistles that a lot of modern scopes have. It's an old fashioned set and forget. Your not going to play GI Joe sniper with this thing. It's a hunting scope. It does its job and does it well. ... show more
