We love this ice machine. After reading many reviews and watching user videos, I decided on this one for its cost, ease of use and cleaning, ice production, and small size for sitting on the countertop. We use a lot of ice and our fridge ice maker does not work well sadly. We waited the recommended 24 hours, leaving the machine upright in the box. Then we loaded it with water, plugged it in, and pressed the button; it began making ice within 6 minutes. (we tossed the first 5 batches or so as rec.) It has a slight hum when it is on, but nothing bothersome to us. Some say this ice cannot be frozen, or it turns into a block of ice, but we figured out a way that works for us. Once the ice basket is full, we dump the ice in a bin in our freezer. After we get a good amount of ice in the bin, we break it up with an ice pic We may have to do this a couple of times, but we are ok with that for the amount of ice we can produce over a few hours. This is our second Silon ice machine. The first one turned on but never made ice. We returned with no hassle and ordered the one we now have. It just must have been a bad machine.     • Lots of hoops to jump through, but very good icemaker

Updated: I originally gave one star because of the reasons down below, but once I emailed them again and provided the video and the documentation and the photographs as they requested, they were really good about everything. They are sending me a new unit. Lots of hoops to jump through to get a replacement, but I understand that they have to make sure that they’re not being scammed for a second free icemaker. Icemaker died after six weeks. It started making clicking and grinding and popping noises, so I turned it off and turned it back on again, and it started making its normal humming noise, but will no longer produce ice. I contacted the company and gave them the Amazon order number as they requested and explained the issue, now they want me to send them an invoice document other than the order number from Amazon that I already sent them. (There is no invoice document!) They also want me to send a photograph of the back of the machine and take a video narrating the problem so they can supposedly help me troubleshoot. There is no troubleshooting to be done. The ice machine pump motor obviously burned out and stopped producing ice! I contacted Amazon as well and they told us that we would need to contact Amazon’s warranty department with no instructions on how to go about doing that. You Are Amazon, I’m talking to you! So basically I’m getting the runaround after spending almost $200 on this damn thing and having it crap out on me after six weeks of use…never again with this company ... show more

If you're looking for chewy nugget ice like from your favorite restaurant at an affordable price, then this is it. It's exactly what you're craving. The machine is not loud, but the fan does make white noise. It's not distracting. Easy to use... fill up the water and press the button. Sometimes the first few nugs come out as snow. I usually dump those back into the water. It fills up fairly quickly. I dump mine into my freezer afterwards. I can made many pounds a day. Definitely worth it. No buyer's remorse. ... show more

We bought this thing a few months ago absolutely love it. I like that it has the fan openings on both sides seems like it has a really good fan. We make sure to keep the fan open so it doesn't get too hot. We use it daily it's a good price. Everything seems to be working great. It's functional easy to use no funny smell or taste. My wife loves the “Sonic” ice, I bought this for her because the fridge ice maker doesn’t make chewable ice. This machine is incredible, makes more than enough for our needs. I put two bottles of hint cherry flavored water in it and my wife fell in love. I make it in the morning and put it in a ziplock bag for her to use throughout the day. If you are on the fence about it, just pull the trigger, you won’t be sorry! Update: The unit didn’t want to run and make ice, I put white vinegar in it and ran a self cleaning cycle. It now runs and makes ice again, you may want to run a self cleaning cycle once a week depending upon how often you use the machine. I use this machine daily and I use bottled water for the ice.
