We've had this ice maker for a few months and we're so happy with it. Here's the breakdown. Pros: -Fast: each cycle only takes a few minutes so you can have ice very quickly once you turn it on -Reliable: it's worked perfectly for months and we use it often -Easy to clean: the self-cleaning feature is great, and a removable plug in the bottom of the chamber makes it easy to drain any old water or cleaning liquid. -Great ice texture: not too hard, can easily be crunched if desired Cons: -Sound, potentially: it's not noisy, but it's not silent either. You can hear it running, and the ice clatters a bit when a cycle is over, but it's not obtrusive in our opinion. But if you're noise sensitive, it might be too much for you. -Wet ice: there's no refrigeration for the ice once it's made, so as it accumulates and fills the basket, it begins to sweat and slightly melt. This is solved by regularly emptying the basket while the ice maker is on, but it also means the ice likes to stick together once you put it in the freezer, because it was wet. If you use a bag for storage, dropping it against the counter breaks up the cubes easily, so we don't find this problematic, but other users have mentioned it as a downside, and just confirming that it's true--yes, the ice sticks together easily because it's wet when you put it away. Overall we're very happy with our choice of ice maker and love the teal color we chose. It coordinates with our kitchen and doesn't take too much counterspace. We were previously making ice in trays and therefore used ice sparingly, but now we use it much more freely because we have ice in bulk at our fingertips. Great little ice maker for home or on the road. We purchased the ice maker originally for RVing. But found it convenient for extended stays in AIrbnbs. The ice maker, makes two sizes of ice which are like very similar in shape to a billiards powder cone but much smaller. We like that it has indicator lights to show when the ice bin is full and when it needs water added to the reservoir. Since the ice bin is directly over the water reservoir, as the ice melts the water goes right back into the reservoir. Obviously this is not an ice machine that you’d want to supply ice for a party but for two people it’s great. The downside is that it is a bit noisy, but it’s a noise that you kinda get used to and move on with. I just wouldn’t want to sleep with it in the same room. We kept it running 24/7 for a long weekend in our last Airbnb stay and it worked great. But if the noise is a bit too much you can always unplug it until needed. It takes about 7 minutes to make a glass full of the small ice, a little bit longer for the bigger ice. Default setting is for it to make the bigger ice, I haven’t found a way of changing that, so it is what it is, the only time you have to change it is after you initially plug it in. So if you only want small ice, set it and leave it. Besides the noise, the only other downsides are the weight and you need to keep it upright for travel as apparently it has a small refrigerator compressor in it. ... show more

I got this because I don't have a water line to my fridge and was sick of my teen emptying the ice trays and the box. This makes a lot of ice (as much as they say it does) quickly. It is soft ice. If you like to crunch ice, it will be perfect. The downside is that it melts rather quickly. Because water is used to get the ice to fall from the pins and it's melting in the bin, if you take it out and put it in a bag or box in the freezer, my experience is that it will freeze together into a big lump. You'll need an ice pick. I cleaned per instructions upon purchase, and the ice had a plastic taste to it. I ran it through a cleaning cycle (which was very quick and easy), and it has tasted fine since then. I can hear it running and can hear water ruining through it, but it's quieter than my refrigerator. It has been dependable with no problems in the 3 months that we have been using it. Overall, I wish the ice were harder, but I'm elated to have a ready supply of ice and would purchase it again. ... show more

My husband and my adult son go through so much ice that my refrigerator ice cube maker cannot keep up with them. We decided to buy this icemaker not only for them, but also to make extra ice when needed for parties. So far I’ve been using it every day for over a week now because my husband and son go through so much ice. I cannot say enough good things about this product, I have had icemakers in the past so I know a little bit about them. This icemaker is much quieter than my last one, it makes ice very fast. The size choices are large or small, I choose large, the ice seems to expand when it actually goes into the freezer for nice size cubes. Ignore any negative comments that say the ice cubes melt, no kidding they melt, this is not a freezer, you are supposed to take the full basket of cubes and put it into your freezer. This is not meant to keep the ice cubes cold. I can fill up my freezer ice bin in a few hours using this machine. The ice that my refrigerator makes stays in the door. The photo I added of my full ice bin in my freezer is ice from the machine only. I love the retro color to boot, it matches my bread box. Definitely worth a five star review in my opinion. UPDATE: It's now December and still going strong with 0 issues. It gets used everyday for hours at a time. GREAT purchase :-) *UPDATE* It's been one year since my review and this ice maker is still going strong, not one issue! *UPDATE #3* It's been almost 2 years now since my original review and this machine is still going strong with daily use. I didn't mention in previous reviews that you should clean out the machine from time to time otherwise you can get sludge build up which is perfectly normal. If/when this machine finally breaks down, I am definitely going with this brand again. ... show more
