  • Solar powered machine
I bought this for my grandson. He enjoys putting things together and taking them apart. This was a great gift for him because there are so many options for him to build.

  • Fun gift that needs adult help
Got this for my 8 year old nephew. He was excited about building robots was definitely not capable of building them by himself. The instructions are good, but the tiny parts require quite a bit of custom attention before the robot works. Each piece needs to be broken out from the main plastic frame. The broken ends need to be filed down, otherwise they interfere with the moving mechanisms. The solar panel is very small and you need either very good sunlight or a halogen lamp to make the robots move. All in all, the idea is great, the execution could be improved. ... show more

  • Good design but hard to assemble
A good design and good idea for kids to play. But the instruction is hard to follow and the pieces are a little hard for young kids to assemble, especially the poor manufacturing parts.

  • Not age appropriate, does not work
Pros: It's a fun project to do with your kid (age 10), I would say a 13 year old can do it easily by themselves. Cons: 1. The biggest, either the battery or the solar panel that we received, is defective, the gears don't turn... 2. It isn't age appropriate, my 10 year old is pretty smart, there's no way she could have done it all by herself. 3. Instructions aren't great, definitely not something that young kids could follow by themselves 4. Parts aren't as durable as I'd hoped, one of the pieces snapped in half with the slightest of pressure. 5. Putting together the robot head with the gears is not easy at all, holding them in place is challenging, you need multiple people. Given the thousands of positive reviews to the handful of negative ones, I'm sure I just got a dud, too bad we tried it way beyond the return window to get a replacement. ... show more
