  • So useful!
I love baking sourdough bread, and these make it so easy to get the bread in and out of a hot Dutch oven. I love how you get round and overall for best support on your bread

  • Nice set
This is a great little useful set of silicone slings. My mom was a wonderful bread baker. She did her very best to pass on her gift to me, with mixed success. She wasn’t a fancy baker so she relied on the techniques she learned from her mother - grease the pan before putting the dough in. This certainly kept it from sticking but it also prevented the development of that nice crunchy crust. I have used parchment for years which does allow the crust to develop. So do these slings work better than parchment? No, not particularly - if you are simply doing the bread on a baking sheet. However, if you want to do your bread in a Dutch oven or other baking vessel these slings come in very handy. They allow you to lift the finished loaf out of the container without burning your knuckles or having to mess around with those terrible bulky and awkward oven mitts. They seem to be good quality silicone and handle the weight of your unbaked dough easily. They are dishwasher safe though they easily wash off with a bit of soapy water in the sink. They roll easily and take up a little less room than a roll of parchment paper so you don’t have to sacrifice space to have these. If you are a baker, this is probably a good investment for you. ... show more

  • They are great and very useful when baking bread at home .
I recently started to bake my own bread at home . There is nothing more satisfying than baking bread and inhale the breathtaking smell of that aroma in my house . If you bake your own bread , you know what I’m talking about . Something about it is soo heavenly ! I was using the parchment paper and it works like a charm , but after you are done , you throw away that paper and I find it a bit wasteful . When I got this two piece set , I was so happy to use them . In person it looks a bit small than I was expecting, but as soon as you put it in the pot , it is perfectly sized . First I put the silicone piece in the pot then dropped my raw bread , put the lid on leaving two flaps outside . When I removed the pot from the oven , they were still in perfect condition. I was worried a bit since the temp in the oven was 475F and I kept it in there for half an hour . I think this temperature was the highest you can/ should use these in the oven . As soon as I released the loaf , it looked like unused . Amazing ! I am very happy with this product and my experience was great . I can’t wait to use it over and over again . Well worth the price for such a high quality item . ... show more

  • They just work
I'm a baker of all things bread and I've been using parchment paper to drop my sourdough loaf into the dutch oven. And sometimes, my fingers get singed by the heat, or the paper tears as I'm trying to pull the bread out after the bake. These slings are the perfect solution. I only wish they were just an inch or two bigger as the dough hangs over the edges a little bit when I shape the loaf and drop it in. Otherwise they are perfect. ... show more

  • Great product, so convenient
I had never thought about a silicone mat for making bread before. But since we have this, we constantly use it in our cast iron Dutch oven. It makes baking even easier because it prevents our baked goods from ever getting stuck. Unlike silicone mats, the handles are the special feature. Now, it is so easy for us to take the hot bread out if the Dutch oven. Also, it washes easily off and still looks as good as new after at least 15 uses. ... show more

  • For more than just breads.
One is oval the other is round. They are oven safe to 450f. They are called bread slings because the most popular use is getting artisan and sourdough loaves from rising baskets to baking vessels and back out without getting burned. But you can also use them to bake meatloaf or roasts or small chickens to aid getting them from pan to platter for serving. ... show more

  • It didn't melt (yay) but it also wasn't that useful
I've been making my own bread for a few weeks now. I make it in my dutch oven, and usually I use a parchment paper liner underneath the loaf so it doesn't get stuck to the pot or become difficult to lift out. I thought this set of bread slings was the answer to my prayers, but I'm not sure if they accounted for the fact that proofed bread is often quite larger than the finished loaf? I placed the sling under the bread as it proofed the last 15-20 minutes so I could sling it into the preheated dutch oven. But when I came to lift the proofed bread from the bowl, I instantly realized it wasn't going to work. The proofed bread is too soft and floppy and the sling only lifted some of the dough...while the rest of it cascaded off the sides. What a big mess. I had to do some serious triage on my dough. But the disaster didn't end there. I managed to get the sling into the heated dutch oven, the dough on top, and the lid on. Baked for 60 minutes. Then, I thought I'd finally see the benefit when I used the sling handles to swing my bread out. However. The soft dough had worked its way underneath the edges of the sling. So I had to dig it out from my baked loaf (once it cooled) and now, well, it looks less than perfect. Maybe this is an isolated experience due to the type of dough I'm using, but idk. Just thought I'd share. ... show more

  • Outstanding Tool For Dutch Oven Bread
I make sourdough bread weekly, and will often use a Dutch oven for my bakes because I have found that this method yields the most remarkably moist interiors while retaining a shatteringly crisp exterior. The downside? Having to fight a parchment sling that wants to disintegrate after 40 minutes in the oven. These slings offer a welcome alternative! Here, I proofed my dough per usual in its banneton, but tipped it onto a combination of parchment and the sling prior to lowering into my preheated Dutch oven. Even this step was made easier by the sling, but it was in removing the boule from the pot that I noticed the most improvement: the sling took all of the weight, making it a breeze to remove both bread and parchment. Fantastic! If I had one complaint, it would be that I wish the centre portions of the sling were slightly larger. A minor thing, though, and I really am pleased with the product and highly recommend it to anyone who does Dutch oven baking. ... show more
