  • There is a sata power connector that you really should connect for better stability, especially with higher power devices
Style: 4-Port (3 External + 1 Internal)
This card works well. I needed it for a slim profile tower and this card gives you 3 external ports instead of the usual 2. There is a sata power connector that you really should connect for better stability, especially with higher power devices. This card is a VIA Labs chipset and I downloaded the drivers directly from VIA Lab's web site as they are more up to date than the manufacturer drivers. The driver also includes a utility to switch modes between normal and UASP or Turbo modes for storage devices that support the faster mode. I tested UASP with a drive and Turbo mode with some others and it all worked well. I've attached a 802.11ac 2x2 wifi adapter, hard drives, SSD drives, sd card reader, all with usb 3.0 connections and they all worked flawlessly and at full speed. I also tried several usb 2.0 devices and those worked perfectly as well. ... show more

  • Simple/quick/easy
Style: 4-Port (3 External + 1 Internal)
Came with CD, instructions designed for windows 7/8/XP and somethin else i dont remember. I'm running windows 10, it was literally, and i mean literally. Plug and Play. Plugged it up, with ease. No connection or fitting issues. Plugged it in. turned PC on. Checked drivers (were up to date) plugged multiple things in from RGB strips to headphones, And my Oculus VR USB hub/Sensors. Worked Fantastically. ... show more

  • Engineering can go back to the drawing board.
Style: 7-Port (ExternalPort)
I bought this card to add non-hub ports to my Gigabyte Z390 Designare motherboard running Windows 10 mainly for music equipment connection and it didn't work. At first I thought it may have been a driver issue but that wasn't the case. Bad PCI-E port? Nope. The card said it was in a state of power failure so I sent the first one back and got a replacement. Plugged in the second one and the same issues. Checked the molex connector and it was putting out power so there was no issue there. Finally I got a card from another manufacturer, popped it in, and it instantly worked. A couple of bad things about this one besides it not working. The molex connector which is required to power it and by the way, does not come with any kind of adapter, is extremely hard to plug into. I don't know if it's the pins or plastic molding but be careful as the board connector isn't solid. Second, the USB ports are aligned vertically which makes for a real tight fit when you plug in your devices if your PCI slots on the back aren't wider. All in all the amount of USB ports makes it attractive but it isn't engineered properly. I went with a SupaHub and it came with all of the adapters and works like a charm. ... show more

  • Works well but you must buy a power cord
Style: 7-Port (ExternalPort)
Works well with slight difficulty working the male USB plug into the card due to clearance issues with my HP computer. Requires careful attention to board position when installing to get this right. As of now the required power cord is not included. Here is the link to the Amazon place to find the correct cord for my HP: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GK8SYCW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For my HP computer it took: StarTech.com LP4SATAFM12 12-Inch SATA to Molex LP4 Power Cable Adapter In any case, a power cord should be included if it is "Required" to work. I have been told by their rep that they are considering adding the cord to the package. Other than this or is working properly and the customer service has been exceptional. ... show more

  • Works Well Enough for Me
Style: 3-Port (Type C & Type A SATA SSD)
I'm running this in an ASUS Z8PE-D18, easy install no problems. I used it as a boot device with no problems with the following operating systems: Linux Mint 19.1, Proxmox 5.3, and OSX Mojave (hackintosh). The only con I have found is I can't boot off of any of the USB ports on this unit. Some of these legacy devices act as a SATA controller giving you one extra SATA port, this one does not. You will absolutely need to use up one of your motherboard's SATA ports to get it to run properly. It is not required that you plug in the SATA power, unless you want power to the USB ports for charging a device. ... show more

  • Some motherboard incompatability
Style: 7-Port (ExternalPort)
The product comes with a disk with the drivers, but you can only partially install them before it crashes. I downloaded the drivers from the company's website, but the same error occurred. The company's tech support said that Windows 10 should already have the drivers, so I didn't worry about that. I have an ASUS X99-E-10GWS motherboard and evidently there is some type of incompatibility to get the card to work after I plug it into card slot. I couldn't get it to work, and the company's tech support group tried to help me troubleshoot the card, and even sent out a second card to see if I could get it work. This might be a great card, but until I get another motherboard to pop it into and test it, I'll just have to wait and see if I can get it work again. ... show more

  • Impressive.
Style: 7-Port (ExternalPort)
Cold as fire baby hot as ice If you've every been to heaven This is twice as nice. Good price it works well once the drivers were installed. I hate external usb dongle things what in the world they suck. Gotta get that solid and stable high speed internal pcie x1 usb port expansion deal thing. If you buy this congrats to you, hope enjoy it as much as me. ... show more

  • This was an amazing add to my new pc just don't use the driver disk with it.
Style: 7-Port (ExternalPort)
My new PC came with 6 usb ports which would seem plenty but as anyone knows these days everything connects usb to a desktop so external blueray drive, headphones, mouse, keyboard, camera, plus about 4 other items on it needless to say I ran out of ports fast. Bought this plugged it in and Microsoft automatically had it working (way to go Windows). Then I decided to try the driver they provided and OH BOY. The driver was glitching the usage of the usb card one moment it worked the next it didn't. It even effected things like Watching Youtube or Twitch. I uninstalled the driver restarted and let Windows reinstall its driver and perfection was back an I have no complaints now. If you need a USB card get one like this one and just put it is but please don't use the driver disk unless Windows doesn't find one for it. ... show more
