I don't write reviews that often, but for this product I wanted to help you make an informed decision if you decided to buy this product anyways: 1. If you are looking for USB 3.0 speed/bandwidth forget about this card. You can google the VIA chipset used yourself to see that VIA is the slowest USB 3.0 out there. Oculus sensors work fine on USB 2.0, but not with this so called USB 3.0 chipset. 2. I've been using this USB card for sometime now. The external power does not add anything to it's performance. It still keeps dropping some ports and malfunction every now and then. I don't know why even bother to hook it up to external power source. 3. There is no official support from VIA to this chipset on Windows 10. They want you to completely depend on Microsoft's drivers. This type of "no support" apporach from chipset manufacturer is demanding consumers boycott. ... show more

Plugged it in and it worked fine. No issues, no problems, no drivers needed on Windows 10. Update 4-9-2018 - I use this card for real-time transfer of Hi-Res audio from computer to a DAC interface. I was noticing a few small glitches every once-in-a-while. So, I did install the drives for this card (which are included ) and it's been rock-solid ever since. For regular USB use the card worked fine on Windows 10 without installing any specific drivers. If real-time transfer of gobs of data is is required, I recommend installing the included drivers. ... show more

I bought this card to add non-hub ports to my Gigabyte Z390 Designare motherboard running Windows 10 mainly for music equipment connection and it didn't work. At first I thought it may have been a driver issue but that wasn't the case. Bad PCI-E port? Nope. The card said it was in a state of power failure so I sent the first one back and got a replacement. Plugged in the second one and the same issues. Checked the molex connector and it was putting out power so there was no issue there. Finally I got a card from another manufacturer, popped it in, and it instantly worked. A couple of bad things about this one besides it not working. The molex connector which is required to power it and by the way, does not come with any kind of adapter, is extremely hard to plug into. I don't know if it's the pins or plastic molding but be careful as the board connector isn't solid. Second, the USB ports are aligned vertically which makes for a real tight fit when you plug in your devices if your PCI slots on the back aren't wider. All in all the amount of USB ports makes it attractive but it isn't engineered properly. I went with a SupaHub and it came with all of the adapters and works like a charm. ... show more

First off, I want to say that when I bought this card I was doing a complete hardware upgrade, so the board I initially used it on recognized it so I never went to look to see if it worked. I could barely plug any usb devices in the slots because I guess my case slots aren’t wide enough? Anyway, new Mobo comes in a few days later, put it in, fresh windows 10 install, device errors. So I’m going through troubleshooting with all new SSD, RAM, CPU, etc can’t get it to boot. Finally unplugged this, got it running, installed and device error. Constantly crashing whenever I managed to get a usb plugged in and saying no drivers, no power, etc. open case, unplug, reseat, check plugs, try again and hardware failure on boot. PC won’t load windows, check bios. I spent 3 months trying to get it to work. Still can’t get anything to fit in the connector ports, if I do, it fails and tends to crash my whole system. I would have returned it but I don’t want to open the case again. I thought maybe I shorted it somehow, but after reading the reviews saying similar stuff, I see it’s not an isolated case. ... show more

USB 3 ports didn't function at all. In fact, upon using them, the bluetooth trackpad disconnected. What would this card have to do with bluetooth? Nothing, yet the trackpad disconnected every time the usb 3 port was used. On to the M.2 drive. Expected this to be a nice added drive, but it required a SATA cable that consumed a slot anyway. What a waste. Card connected to a full PCIe slot and it requires reaching across the computer to a much slower interface? Waste. What should've and could've been a great idea for a card, is a total waste. (2012 Mac Pro) ... show more

The product comes with a disk with the drivers, but you can only partially install them before it crashes. I downloaded the drivers from the company's website, but the same error occurred. The company's tech support said that Windows 10 should already have the drivers, so I didn't worry about that. I have an ASUS X99-E-10GWS motherboard and evidently there is some type of incompatibility to get the card to work after I plug it into card slot. I couldn't get it to work, and the company's tech support group tried to help me troubleshoot the card, and even sent out a second card to see if I could get it work. This might be a great card, but until I get another motherboard to pop it into and test it, I'll just have to wait and see if I can get it work again. ... show more

I have 6 large external hard drives connected to USB ports on 3 host cards in my computer. As my desktop has aged, it's gotten harder to keep the system booting with all of those external drives attached. So, I finally got this USB 3.0 card with its own driver, which solved ALL of my problems! My only complaint is that it takes a Molex 4-pin power cord to work [NOT INCLUDED] , which I had to get @ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08G1FB5WC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My question is - for $35, why didn't they include the power cord as well??? RECOMMENDED ONLY if you understand that you need a 4-pin Molex extension cable as well! ... show more
