These are awesome I saved $1000 more on custom iem with these. Lots of ear tips options and found the comply tips fit best for me. Before these I was wearing some ridiculously large ear protection…comfortable but silly. These are stylish slim to my ear and comfortable I was worried they bubble out. The sound is awesome with balanced tips. Great subs and mids. I have ATC speakers and they are almost there it’s just the transient response on the ATC is so life like. These are great nevertheless. I didn’t like the stiff cable so i bought another more flex pair. Switching out the eq filters was difficult. ... show more

I primarily use these for online gaming directly connected to my GoXLR. Sure, I could get away with a cheaper pair of IEMs, but I wanted something that would work for both gaming and listening to music. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I appreciate great sound when I hear it, and the SE846s do that for me. Admittedly, I tried a different product first. Off the recommendation of others, I first tried the Sennheiser ie600s. They were great and had comparable sound to these, but the noise cancelation (or really noise isolation) wasn't as good, and the Sennheisers hurt my left ear, which has a bit of a bump on it. After dealing with the pain for several months, as well as having to have the Sennheisers replaced once due to a broken ear bud, I decided to give the Shure SE846 a try. Like I said, the sound quality of the Shures is similar to the Sennheisers, but the Shures have several added benefits (which it should for the increased cost). The noise cancelation (or isolation) is markedly better, especially with the triple flange ear tips, which go super deep in your ear. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it's great. Another nice part is the interchangeable nozzles which allow you to EQ the sound without required software. I prefer the blues for gaming, but depending on your application you might enjoy the others more. They were super simple to replace, and when I was trying them for the first time I even switched them out mid-game. Took very little time at all. I highly recommend the Shure SE846s. The sound quality is great, allows you to EQ the sound with interchangeable nozzles, has great noise isolation, are very comfortable, and so far are extremely durable. Plus they look cool. The Shure SE846 is a truly exceptional product in terms of sound quality. While it only marginally surpasses the Etymotic Research ER4SR in this regard, the SE846's performance is still outstanding. Its tonal accuracy and precision are unmatched, allowing for an incredibly detailed and immersive listening experience. The SE846's low-end response is particularly noteworthy, offering a deep and powerful bass without sacrificing clarity or definition in the mid and high frequencies. Additionally, the SE846 outperforms the ER4SR in terms of soundstage and separation. The SE846's design features four high-definition drivers, with two dedicated to delivering low-frequency tones, one for the mid-range, and one for high frequencies. This configuration allows for a more nuanced and expansive soundstage, with instruments and vocals precisely placed within the stereo field. Moreover, the SE846's ability to separate individual frequencies allows for a cleaner and more defined sound, making even complex musical arrangements sound clear and well-defined. However, the question of whether an upgrade from the ER4SR to the SE846 is worth the quadrupled cost is subjective. While the SE846 does offer some notable advantages over the ER4SR, most listeners are likely not going perceive these differences as significant enough to justify the price difference. Ever have the feeling when you buy food from a take out place, and then you have the same thing at a top shelf restaurant, and you keep wondering if it was really any better for the price you paid? May be not, but you do remember that classy restaurant and feel like going there again, IF you could afford of course. Sorry for my bottom shelf analogy, but that's how I feel about these IEMs. Laugh if you like, but I alternately listen to these and the sub-$50 KZ ZS10 IEMs from Amazon, and I scratch my head if these are really $800 better. But there is something about these that is just great. The ergonomics, the look, the comfort, the materials, the packaging, everything feels top shelf. One thing that is a certain difference, is that I can listen to these for hours without thinking I am listening to music, except for every now and then I feel someone is just whispering near my ears, while the cheaper one seems to shout at me and after a while it feels tiring to listen to. I know it is not very scientific, but may be that's what audiophiles call "clean" sound. Oh, speaking of audiophiles, I am not one to distinguish that one note that I could not hear for years on my other headphone, but I can certainly distinguish good sounding IEMs vs. great sounding IEMs. I can tell you that the ChiFi market is HOT, you have to leave your ego aside and listen for yourself. So, would I buy a Mercedes while I can get from point A to B in a Toyota just fine, for much cheaper cost and with same dependability? Well, I personally will.     • Worthy and worthwhile IEM upgrade

I’m been rocking Shure SE535s for over 10 years, and had 425s and lower models before. I could never justify the price of the SE8XX series in my mind, but had never tried them. I use my 535s all the time and enjoy the sound (and isolation) they provide. I like full spectrum sound with body/weight, and I prefer vocals to instrumentals. I always thought I was getting enough from the 535s, but finally upgraded the 846s last week, and I can’t get over home much more depth, distinction, and sound stage is presented. Yes, these are not cheap, but what you get, you’re getting 3x the bang for your buck with the 846s over the 535s. If I were using these IEM for professional purposes and not for pleasure, I’d prefer the 535s though. ... show more
