I’ve just got back into motorcycle touring after about two decades off. I’ve had to balance saving money with spending money on the right things. I started with a $150 Bilt modular that was ok but is that really where you want to skimp? No it’s not and once I put this helmet on and rode with it, I knew I made the right choice. I ride in the PNW so fogging has been an issue but not with this helmet, the vents work extremely well. Very comfortable helmet. Coming from a full face sedici which isn’t bad (300$) but immediately after putting this on at cycle gear I knew I had to purchase. They didn’t have the athracite in small which is why I bought here. I also hooked it up with a cardo freecom which rocks !!

I've only done a couple thousand miles in this helmet but so far I love it. I did change to the 31mm cheek pads before extended use. The fit and comfort are perfect for all day use, even on several day trips. Both visors both work great and are easy to use. Vents are easy to use and do provide some cooling, not super but good enough. I still get noise, lots of noise but to be honest I'm not sure there is any way to avoid that, I am after all riding with my head in the wind at highway speeds. The latch on the chin strap is also great and you can work it with or without gloves on. I wear glasses and they slip right on after I put the helmet on and there are no painfull pressure points. Weight hasn't been a problem for me even though I think it is a little heavy in my hands. The "clam shell" is super easy to use and locks up and down very nicely. Overall this is a great helmet. I've had a neotec for the prior 6 years. It expired, so I upgraded to the Neotec 2. It feels lighter, but it's not. It sounds quieter, but there is still pronounced wind noise, especially at highway speed. I was hoping I could retire my earplugs. Not yet. Perhaps when the Neotec 3 comes out. Intercom integration works very weel, however, Sena systems have an annoying and frequent loud clicking noise whenever connecting to 3 or more other systems. Sena has known about it for years, but haven't fixed the problem yet. But that's on Sena, not Shoei. To me, this is the best and most comfortable modular helmet in its price range. But there is clearly room for improvement. Get on it Shoei engineers! Keep improving. ... show more

This is my 3rd Shoei Neotech and it packed with lots of features. A built-in flip up sun visor, Pin lock anti-fog lens, air ventilation tunnel on top and near the bottom of the visor, quick connect strap, and it's modular. The entire front of the helmet completely opens up to get more fresh air at a signal light or to talk to someone easier. I love these helmets. They're hand-made in Japan. I have one complaint. This helmet for some reason has a high pitched whistle noise on the freeway and I cannot figure out why. My 2 other Shoei helmets didn't have that noise. Even when my visor and vents are completely closed, I still get that whistling noise. ☹️ I'm not going to return the helmet, it's just an annoyance I'm going to live with. ... show more
