Beware- I purchased from fish shimano, paid for new, they shipped a used reel. Thanks to Amazon returns, shipped back and promptly refunded. I have the reel from another source. Performs great so far. I'll update after a few months.

If you’re like me and just got into Baitcasters. I started off with a Kast Kings combo for around $100. Honestly it is a good learning combo. KK Royal Select 7’3” Medium power Fast action with KK Spartacus II reel. As soon as I knew I had the casting down on that “learning gear” I immediately knew I wanted higher quality.     • Easy to use!
I’ve never used a bait caster prior to the SLX DC. After starting out with full brake adjustment, learning how to cast with no backlash has been a breeze. I used 20lbs braid and have the brake set on 2, very little issues with backlash. I’ve re-spooled once and notice a difference in cast ability with a full spool reel compared to half spooled etc. keep the spool full for best results. ... show more
