  • Wrong product !
The product is everything it says it is but unfortunately I received a shimano curado DC 150 XG and I clearly ordered a shimano curado 151DC XG the 151 is for left handed it’s always a struggle getting your order wrong and frustrating !

  • it is the drag!!!!!
I got my DC, spooled it up and put it on a Shimano med. action rod. I was ready to go. Off I went to the Sacramento delta. The delta is known for large Bass. And I hooked a 9 pounder. That when I learned the drag on this reel at 11 pounds suck!!!!. At $249.00 it might make a high priced crappie rig. If Shimano ever makes an upgraded drag too 15 -17 pounds let me know. As for the rest of the hype it acted a LITTLE better in the wind and it casts good down wind, it didn't completely stop backlashes. I went back to my thumb and ignored the computer. Let me know if you ever get it right. Don ... show more

  • Cadillac smooth
Avid fisherman, I use the crap out of my gear. Reel before this was the lews custom lite. This reel is everything I was looking for. The braking system is legit and worry free. I throw a lot of flukes on a 7'3" medium. The 8.5 gear ratio let's me comfortably run it as topwater. Casts are long and smooth. It took everything in my being not to thumb the spool on launch. Great reel. ... show more

  • Curado DC is good for now...
It kinda an over hype reel when it first came out. It has the same features as the Curado K & just an additional DC concept upgrade, replacing the infinity and outer brake. The goods thing about it cast a bit further & better in winding condition than an conventional reel. Really, it just help you reducing thumbing and less backlashes. Not the best but great quality for its price. ... show more

  • You need to set it up properly.
Helps me skip under docks without having a huge backlash. Smooth and will cast far if set right.

  • I'm Hooked
This is only my second bait caster but I am hooked. I've never used a bait caster because my friends all say the same thing. Don't waist your time or money, they're too hard to use. I recently started with a Penn Fathom Lever Drag 2. 40N....Very easy and fun to use so I pulled the trigger on this DC Bait Caster. I'm glad I did. This thing is a CHAMP. I still get some back lash but nothing I haven't been able to "un-lash". I have a hard time in cramped area's where there are a lot of trees. Seems to me that I need some open space to get the best use out of this reel. Make no mistake about it though. This thing will send a light lure a lot further than a spinning reel will. I haven't mastered this reel yet and I still get some snags and a few back lashes here and there but it's actually worth it. I'm very new to bait casters and I'm casting pretty good. My son, who taught me how to use a bait caster, can't believe how well I'm doing. He wants one now. His birthday is coming up too. I've used this rod on 3 different occasions for a total of about 20 hours and I have been experimenting with it quit a bit. On the third day I caught 12 bass on a Roaster Tail. This seems to reel in a lot faster than the spinning reels that I'm used too. So I had to slow it down a bit. I still use my spinner for tight places but this DC is my go to now. Once I have it set I don't need to mess with it much. I'm currently using 20lb braided line but I think I'm going to go up to 30 lb. I've been told it will cast even further with that. I will definitely buy another. ... show more
