  • The BEST calculator
I love this. I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews but it's perfect. The paperless feature is a game changer. You won't regret this purchase.

  • Super calculator, great improvement over paper printing!
I ordered this to replace my 10 year old Canon printing calculator that was getting problematic as it didn't always register numbers correctly and I got a lot of errors. I never really used the printing function exception very occasionally, but this non-printing calculator was a great find—I hadn't known it existed before. I've found the digital print screen to be quite useful and you can always see what you've just typed in, which is nice for double checking. I leave the little screen tilted up so I can see the numbers in a running list to confirm, which I really like a lot. There's an easy 3-step process to delete all the numbers on the screen when desired, which I always do when I'm done and about to shut it off. I recommend learning this process (not printed in the manual, unfortunately). Otherwise, it keeps in memory a running list up to 300 entries. The calculator has a slightly smaller footprint than my old Canon model, it weighs a lot less, and it's nice to get rid of the bulky paper roll holder and its weight hanging behind the calculator like with my old one, it turns on instantly (my old Canon took ages to start up), and the keys are easy and comfortable to push. There are a lot of great calculating functions if you bother to learn them all. It seems that Sharp is the only company with a "printing" screen like this. Great invention and very useful for most of us. I'm totally satisfied with this calculator, and would definitely buy it again despite the rather high price. To delete numbers from the screen: Press the "down arrow" button at the top right, then the button that says "2nd" in the top left area, then press the DELETE button (has delete all written above it). Weird series of actions, I can't imagine why Sharp didn't make it a one-step process that made sense! ... show more

  • Great environmentally friendly calculator. Fast, quiet and no tape mess. One small deficiency...
Its a great calculator and built well enough for professional use. There are a few non standard operating functions that take a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of its differences it will become second nature. As a retired CPA, I've worn out my share of professional printing calculators and this little gem seems that it will last for a good long while. It's nice not having a 30' long tape to wad up and throw away at the end of a long day. The ONLY real shortcoming for me is that the "tape" is not backlit. It's not always a problem, but depending on your desk and lighting setup you may experience light glare which makes reading the tape a bit difficult. Sharp, if you. are listening, add a backlight to the tape display (or even better, make a model with an e-ink display) and it would just about be perfect. An E-ink tape display would be so nice I'd gladly pay a premium for it. It would be worth it. ... show more

  • No more paper tapes or ink ribbons
As an old time bookkeeper it takes some getting used to not having a paper tape to refer back to when I have a discrepancy. But I realized I don't really add massive rows or columns of numbers anymore with most work now being an electronic spreadsheet. Simplify.

  • Don't have to buy paper and ink any more
I bought this calculator because it does not require paper, nor ink. I don't have a need for the paper any more. The ink was a problem because the replacement ink cartridges were poor quality. I was disgusted with the performance of the ink refills. When I saw this one and it did not require ink or paper, I knew I wanted to try it out. The only thing I dislike was the short warranty. I decided to buy it anyway because I am very gentle with my things. As far as double-checking my figures, I always do my addition and then subtract everything to make sure I did not make a mistake. It's a nice machine. I've been using Sharp Calculators for many years and wanted to stick with this brand. The colors of the numbers is bright and easy to see. It comes with an electrical cord that you plug into the machine. It also comes with a battery that is strictly for retaining things in memory. It sits up at a little higher angle than the older calculators. This is helpful for those of us who wear glasses. ... show more
