I had lots of stuff floating around on my desk and no way to store it. This item turned out to be just what I was looking for. I got this desk organizer because the one I already had wasn't cutting it anymore. It's simple black, which works well for my room. The metal feels like decent quality. The size is pretty good. My one concern is that the drawer and pen/pencil holder on the side are loose. The pen holder goes back and forth and doesn't hold snugly in place, like you would expect it to. The drawer doesn't fit snugly either (it seems to slide forward way too easily, even though the size seems to fit its spot well). These things get a little better once they have the weight of some items in them to get them to stay in place better. This is a terrific desk organizer. With a little patience you can put it together fairly quickly and it will be sturdy and no less stable than anything you can buy preassembled at any store. I always have a ton of stuff lying on my desk that I need to have at hand but with nowhere to live, and this solve a huge portion of that problem very neatly. It holds a lot of items and I can see what's there and what's not at a glance. Plus, a much less cluttered desktop is a joy to behold. This isn't an overly large item, but it fits in nicely with my desk as I have black metal monitor stands (with mesh drawers) and a black mesh vertical slot file holder. It comes packaged flat, so it needs assembly, which wasn't too difficult. The instructions were mostly clear, and it only took me a few minutes to figure out the thing I found slightly confusing. It's fairly lightweight, but it seems sturdy enough to hold a number of items. The little shelves on the right side are just that - kind of little. They can hold items about 6-7" long, although they stick out over the edge a bit. The The drawer is longer - about 9-3/4" long, which allows for storing a number of things. The vertical slots on the left are great - all my notebooks and paper pads are now quite handy to reach. The pencil cup just hangs on the side and can go on the right or left as needed. I use it to hold small note pads, and my only comment about that is that the holder often falls off when I need to grab one of the pads.
