Description

Seymour Duncan's Hot Rails pickup is one of the highest output pickups Duncan makes, and also one of the most popular. The Hot Rails uses a pair of blades coupled with strong ceramic magnet and powerful coil windings to create a pickup that's full and fat with a ton of sustain - perfect for classic rock, but also lending itself very well to more aggressive tones such as garage rock or metal. Best of all, these humbuckers - and all their beefy tone - fits inside a single-coil-sized pickup. Add girth to your tone with the Hot Rails! Seymour Duncan Hot Rails at a Glance: High output Complete setup High output One of the highest output and most popular pickups Seymour Duncan makes, the two thin blades, strong ceramic magnet, and powerful coil windings give you the incredible sustain and a fat, full sound that's needed for playing heavier rock

  • Easy install, sounds great to me
I installed one of these in the bridge position on an old Squire Bullet Strat I had sitting around and it was really simple and easy to do. No routing or cutting, just two wires desoldered and then two soldered. The white and black wires are reversed in relation to the old pickups but I just followed the instructions and it worked. I read that it may be out of phase when used with the middle pickup but I dont hear it. Id like to add a push/pull knob for coil splitting soon. Tone is subjective and I figure if you’re buying this you already know the tone you want but I will say that I really like the sound of these distorted or overdriven for metal & blues better than the single coil. Sounds great clean to my ears also. Very hot as others have said but it really makes this cheap little guitar sound like a monster. Very happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Great pickup
Great pick up. I’m usually a traditional but I wanted a less brittle bridge pup. This one delivers. Do not expect it to sound like a single coil as it does not. It still sounds good on the 4 position and it adds a lot of power to the bridge position!

  • Brought My Strat To Life!
Great pickup!! I love my Stratocaster, but as with any single coil guitar, you have to deal with a certain amount of hum (unless you're in the 2 or 4 position on the selector switch). It's the price of doing business. However, I found myself using the 2 and 4 positions for the most part, as well as the middle and neck pickup alone, and avoiding the bridge pickup because for me, I just couldn't dial in the bridge the way I wanted. So I decided to go with the Hot Rails in the bridge position and it was a great solution. The bridge position now sings (without the hum, obviously), and I've dialed in the 2 position so it matches well with the middle pickup as well. My Strat just went from my "single coil" guitar to my main guitar, because it always feels so good to play. ... show more

  • Pure Awesomeness!
I had dropped the neck Hot Rail into my Mexican Strat a few months ago, and loved the full, powerful sound so much that I never used my single coils any more. After installing the bridge Hot Rail, my guitar is even more versatile. Despite what I had read, it is possible to balance the output with the remaining single coil in my mid position, just by raising that pickup closer to the strings. So now I have a powerful scooped sound from the neck, a quack-ey strat sound out of the middle, and powerful mids out of the bridge. And I get some great sounds mixing the middle pickup with either Hot Rail. I am definitely enjoying playing my Strat now more than ever before. Installation was easy, though I recommend going to the Seymour Duncan website for color wiring diagrams, as the grayscale diagrams that come with the pickup are difficult to read. 5 Stars! ... show more

  • Doesn’t beat the Lil59.
I had high hopes, but this does not beat the excellent SD Lil59. The rails are darker sounding and lack the sweet all around playability of the Lil59. Try as I might to find something seemingly better, I find that the Lil59 is perhaps the best humbucker ever made. And in a single coil for 250k pots no less. ... show more

  • Better than JB
I’ve got the JB, pearly gates, dime bag, and this hot rails all in diff guitars. Hot rails is the best tone. Then pearly then dime. Used to think JB was the best till tried others. Might be type of body wood too. There are some guitars that I just can’t make good without active emg. Should add put of fairness playing through boss me80 into board with can sim activated on boss. So digital, not analogue. JB was very good with analog board. ... show more
