  • A VIBRATO FOR MY FIREBIRD!
Color: TM85 Chrome
I recently bought a new Epiphone Firebird and wanted to put a vibrato on it. I chose the Guyker based on its design and the relatively low cost. I figured that if it did not work out I would not be out that much money. I also bought the roller bridge as part of the bundled package. Installation was very easy and straightforward. No modifications to the 'Bird were needed, so it is easy to restore the guitar to its original condition. While no instructions were included, installation was pretty much intuitive. I was impressed by the fact they included an extra spring for the vibrato. Once installed, I have found it to be effective for gentle vibrato effects. You can also do limited dive bombs with it, but another type of vibrato might be better suited for those. So far, this has proven to be a very good vibrato. Everything stays in tune and I have yet to break a string! Overall I can recommend this! ... show more

  • I like this trem, having fun with it, but it does have some quirks which could be improved.
Color: TM85 Chrome
This tremolo product gets you and your guitar an easily-installed simple, affordable tremolo system, which expands your range of playing options and sounds, without drilling any holes or routing chambers. Bolts right onto any standard Gibson-Epiphone-type stopbar (string-stop) tailpiece. It generally seems very well made from a plated zinc alloy, has some beef and weight to it, looks great on the guitar, very “hot rod custom” type of styling. Overall, it’s a good product and I’d recommend it to others, but with a couple of caveats: 1. The spring tension feels very soft right out of the box, and initially the string tension was enough to make the trem “float” a slight amount, resulting in some tuning instabilities and initial tuning frustrations. It just wouldn’t hold tune. However, breaking-in the spring by using it a lot for a couple of days, has seemingly work-hardened it, and stiffened it some, to the point where tuning has improved significantly. But it still does not hold tuning as well as the avg Bigsby or Strat trem. I believe it needs a stronger stiffer spring to perform optimally, and I’m going to search for an auto valve spring or something similar to modify it. Given the price of the product, I’m not upset about this, it’s a challenge I’ll accept and enjoy. But to the makers/sellers: You’ll need to improve your springs and/or offer some stiffer ones for more reliable tuning stability. 2. Compared to other tremolo systems, this trem arm seems very long, and sits in an awkward range from the bridge, even after max adjustment to shorten the distance and feel. My solution was to saw off the angled end of arm, plus another 1/2”, allowing me to shorten it considerably and get it to sit closer to where a std strat or Bigsby trem arm tip would sit. Much more comfortable now and easily reached from my normal playing position. So to conclude, I like it, sticking with it, enjoying it now, but still looking to improve it with a modified stiffer spring, or inner “booster” spring nested inside the stock spring. Tuning stability is a really important thing. ... show more

  • BUY IT..! Don't believe the bad reviews!
Color: TM85 Chrome
If you have a Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul or SG, thus is a no brainer. At a fraction of the cost for a Bigsby, this is so easy to install, remove, swap, you name it. WAY easier to string the a Bigsby. Stays in tune better in my experience, and I own 4 Gretsch EGs with Bigsbys. The best thing is that if you have a guitar with a Les Paul type bridge and tailpiece, you can just pop it on when you restring. No drilling, takes up way less real estate, and you can swap between guitars. I legitimately can't understand why this doesn't have a higher rating. Sounds like I have a dog in this fight? I do. No I'm not getting paid, but I do want these guys to stay in business bc literally no one else makes these. Seriously, a fantastic tremolo. Just bought my 3rd one. ... show more

  • Honestly surprised
Color: TM85 Chrome
Installed this on a singlecut kit to give it some wiggle and shimmer capability. I had just tried installing a different cheap vibrato that was fatally flawed so wasn't expecting too much from something in a similar price bracket. It works. The feel is amazing actually, buttery smooth, quite impressive. Won't do dive bombs -- I get maybe a 1.5 steps on the G, a half step on the high E, then I wasn't expecting to do that. For subtle vibrato, it's absolutely perfect. Great feel and stays in tune. For bigger bends, it has tuning stability issues, but that's just as likely my guitar (still on a non roller bridge and I never widened the nut slots) as it is the tailpiece itself. Another plus is it's relatively small so doesn't look like a bulky hunk of metal. For an inexpensive guitar, grab one and be happy! ... show more

  • String breaker = Deal breaker
Color: TM85 Chrome
I was happy after I installed this on my Les Paul. The provided screws do not work with a U.S. Les Paul, but the existing ones for the stock tailpiece will work. Although they do not fit flush obviously they don't look bad. Tuning was fine. With nut lubed and bridge with roller guides tuning is surprisingly stable... at least as good as a Strat. Unfortunately, the slot where the string fits has sharp edges that cut my 1st string within 30 minutes to an hour of use. I put heat shrink tubing in to protect the string and that helped, but still somehow I keep breaking strings, not at the bridge, nut or tuning keys, but at the ball end the string itself is unraveling. I tried two different brands, D'Adarrio and Ernie Ball (9's) but the first string gave up seeming to unravel (pitch drops too) and ultimately break. I've never seen a string to do that. Maybe it is because of the movement allowed within the tremolo... I don't know. I've never seen a design like this on a vibrato, but I've lost five strings in the past week... and this isn't my only guitar I've played. Maybe I got a bad one? Maybe I put 5 bad string on in a row? I never break strings. They go dull and flat before then. At any rate this will be returned. ... show more
