I use this with a Friedman 112 cab and either my Fractal Audio FM3, Line6 Helix, or Line6 HX Stomp. Works amazingly well, even at lower volumes, but can be as loud as anyone would need. The 4 band EQ is perfect for tailoring the sound through a cab while also running direct to the front of house with a modeler. This is the perfect at home and jam on the go power amp. Powers my 300w handling 2x12 cab to ear bleeding levels. XLR output for home recording or FOH is a bonus. Some people complain that the cab sim is too dry but thats the point with this, it's a pedal board supply so I like having a neutral cab sim and let the other pedals create the tone.     • A def must for modeling pedals
This is perfect for digital amp modeling setups. I have the new PodGo and tried this and Orange pedal baby and this is def the best with digital modeling. I have a Revv G3, KRS Ceres and Victory Kraken and those as well as other analog pedals def sound better thru the Orange pedal baby.

    • Sounds good with FM3 but prefer a traditional amp
I got this to use with my Fractal FM3, so I could amplify it through a regular guitar speaker cabinet. I dialed up a few high gain amp models in the FM3 and went through the PowerStage 200 into my Mesa widebody 1x12 and compared it to my PRS MT15 head and my Quilter OD 202 head going into the same cabinet. I was able to get some pleasing tones that came close to feeling like a real amp, and it was plenty loud enough, but I still preferred the sounds I was getting through the amp heads. Overall this is a good option for someone who wants to amplify their fm3 or helix or other modeler or pedal amp without having to buy a large power amp. I think if I really wanted to use my Fractal with this I could have dialed it in to sound pretty good through this thing, but for now I'm going to stick with traditional amps. ... show more

    • Yes! Powerful and perfectly transparent!
I have been using this with my KSR Ceres and two vertically stacked 1x12 cabs for gigging for a while now, and have been VERY happy with it. Pros: Small Lightweight Powerful 2 speaker out jacks Runs at 4 ohms Completely transparent (doesn't color the sound of my pre-amp pedal) Very Loud, but unlike most amps, the volume knob does not go from 0-100 in the first 1/4" of turn. Cons: Terrible layout for an cab-top setup. Kind of big for a pedal board. Biggest issue I have with this unit is that it's really too big for a pedalboard and the wrong layout for an amp top setup. Seymour Duncan needs to create a PS-200 in a PS-700 format. As it is, I had to velcro feet onto the bottom of my PS-200 to get it to clear my cab handles. If you are deliberating between this and the PS-170, let me help you out (I've owned both). This model excels due to the following: Presence control (this is actually huge), because it allows you to dial in highs without sounding harsh. XLR out EQ and Speaker Emulation on/off switch for XLR Headphone out & volume control Cab Sim (I have not used mine, so can not comment on the quality) Two Speaker out jacks These features are definitely worth the extra coin. Get the 200, you won't regret it. There is simply no reason to run my pedalboard into the loop return of a tube amp anymore. As such my tube amps have been unloaded (well......at least most of them). Keep in mind, I'm playing heavy rock so all of my sound comes from my KSR Ceres preamp. If I was looking for that elusive "edge of break-up" sound, I would be far less happy with this setup. When Seymour Duncan comes out with a cab-top model like the PS-700 I will buy one in a second, then use this one as the spare. In the meantime, I am perfectly happy with this power amp. ... show more

    • Nice Amp Under The Right Conditions, Just Not Mine
Loud is Great. Quite, not so much. I needed a small amp to drive an FRFR speaker with some tone control to adjust for room acoustics, without overly coloring the sound. It does that very well. On stage, this would be great. Problem is, I also need it for quiet practice at home. At low levels, the fan noise is very annoying. So much so that I returned it and got a Quilter Tone Block 202 instead. Although the Quilter is capable of more, the way I use it, I basically paid an extra $100 to have the fan removed. There should be another option that doesn't require moving down to something with a noisy external power supply. Replacing the amp and speaker with a Line 6 powercab or similar, may have been a better choice. ... show more
