  • I wanted a fun new toy as well for the upcoming vacation we ...
So the hubby decided to spend quite a bit of money on a new RC car. Which he then promptly broke the chassis after only two days worth of having out of the box. Regardless of this incident, though, I decided that after a hard year of schooling and working, I wanted a fun new toy as well for the upcoming vacation we would be taking. I have been longing for a kayak for quite a while, but knowing that we simply do not have any room for a large/ hard kayak, it is not feasible at this point in time. But then I came across inflatable kayaks, and decided to really dig into the research behind them. I was debating between two different brands, with similar models (including this one). After more research, and learning that this brand is actually Coleman, I decided to ensure my trust in this one. After returning from vacation, I have used this on multiple lakes and a river. It has also been inflated by both a foot pump that I purchased, and a 12V car pump. Both pumps worked very well to inflate. The lakes were great to paddle across, the only downfall was a windy day with huge waves, but I was really surprised by how stable it was! The river was an easy-going morning fishing trip. While I did not catch anything, the kayak performed perfectly. As many other reviewers have stated, the paddle that is included with this kayak is not great by any means. In fact, after only using it once, I purchased a different paddle. But for the quality of this kayak, and being able to seat both the hubby and I, plus our fishing gear, I could not have asked for a better inflatable! ... show more

  • Good for the $ but oar sucks.
Great, did the job! Would not use this is river with rapids or windy lake but did great on our lake and we are in the mountains. Easy to inflate. Instructions are a little weird, or maybe I read them wrong but finally figured it out. Two things, the oar that comes with it is complete junk. I purchased a Sea Kayak oar from Coleman and it did wonders over the ones that came with the kayak. OMG, they were awful. You MUST duct tape them to keep them from moving all over and the drench you with water everytime you row. Would have given 5 stars but the oar was a waste of time and the back seat needs better support. The middle seat was pretty good as far as back support but we had to use our cooler and dry sak behind the back seat just to create some support. Spash gaurds work great. Overall a fun little boat, gotta be careful in those man make lakes for tree trunks and sticks. ... show more

  • Smaller than tahiti
Narrower than our recent grey and yellow Intex inflatable kayaks bought on Amazon. Ok for one person or two kids. My 13 year old paddles it around alone and it’s fine. Not a one way valve on the bottom so that stinks. A bit harder to get a solid fill with the cheap valve. But not a deal breaker. Side chanbers have a different valve than we’re used to seeing (Boston valves on others). They’re like the blow up mattresses that we’ve had not past from Intex. Blow up and push inward to seal, then cap. ... show more

It was okay. Definitely not what I was looking for. It is a good quality item but I wouldn’t do any serious kayaking in this. Also would need to get a fin and diff. paddle as it’s hard to steer. Was out for about 4 hours in this and by the time I was done it was deflated some and I had gotten some water in it from moving around trying to stay comfortable- things got a little difficult. I would get another cushion to sit on as well. Too much hassle for me! I’m going to get a real kayak! ... show more

  • This boat is pretty great, I've spent some time in it now
wanted to test out a inflatable kayak since I'm a beginner and don't want to buy a car rack. This boat is pretty great, I've spent some time in it now. It's not the fastest, and it definitely isn't built for long trips, but it's great for a few hours out on the lake. I have yet to do any river kayaking with it yet though. ... show more

  • Tipped over sending my daughter and me into a lake. Avoid if you are over 200lb
The kayak was easy to carry and easy to fill, however during my maiden voyage out on the lake, the bung plug had opened at some point, filling the kayak with water. When I tried to plug the hole, i could not reach it from where I was sitting. When I tried to lean around to close it, the kayak tipped sending my 11 year old daughter and me into the lake, it took us about 45 minutes to paddle back. There was very little stability with this kayak. I bought this kayak because it said it could handle a combined weight of 400lb. I am 245lb and my daughter isn't even 80 lb. Even when paddling out, because this kayak lacks any type of rudder, it spins in the water when you paddle. I have used the kayak once and doubt I will use it again. ... show more

  • The kayak fills easily and floats well
The kayak fills easily and floats well. However, the paddle broke before we were even able to get it in the water. It is flimsily made and snapped where it fits together in the center. Since we were using the kayak ver 7 hours from home off our houseboat at Lake Powell, we had no choice but to attempt a repair to the paddle with clamps and duct tape. However, the kayak itself and the dry bag worked well. Note that we bought the skeg that goes with it to ensure good tracking as recommended by other reviewers. ... show more

  • So the first time wasn’t that great. So I bought a skeg and inflated it ...
The first time I took this kayak on the lake, I did not have a skeg. I also didn’t inflate it the way the directions described. So the first time wasn’t that great. So I bought a skeg and inflated it the right way and it was 100 % better. It fit two adults and my two year old niece who actually took a nap in it. This kayak is awesome and I highly recommend it!!!! ... show more
