I love this desk. I did not opt for Amazon to assemble this desk for me. I always assemble everything by myself. This was particularly hard because everything was so heavy. I banged up one of the corners trying to slide it out of the box. It was too heavy for me to remove from the box and it is fragile, as in easy to damage. So, I opened the bottom of the box, and lifted the top and tried to gently tried to wiggle it onto blankets. But, that did not work, and I smashed one of the corners. The assembly for this one is definitely a two person job. After a struggle, I managed to get the desk assembled, but I COULD NOT flip it up to an up right position. I never ask for help. I have managed to assemble large heavy pieces from Ikea all by myself including Armoires and huge solid wood book shelving systems After several failed attempts, I had to ask a neighbor who was passing by in the hallway to help me flip it to an upright position. Other than the weight of this object, I love this desk. It was exactly what I was looking for. The quality is there. I love the fact that you can write on it with a dry erase marker. It is an attractive desk, with a modern flare. This particularly model had more desk real estate than the seville classic standard model, which is why I opted for this one. I have a 24 inch external monitor and a 32 inch external monitor, a 15 inch laptop, a dell hub, an external key board, an external mouse and a mouse pad, AND I HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM LEFT TO WRITE. This is why I opted for this model. This was the perfect desk for a work from home situation. And it was reasonably priced. I bought it directly from Amazon during the pandemic. Several third party vendors were offering this same desk for up to $400 more than Amazon. Happy that Amazon had it in stock, and that I got it for a great price. I highly recommend this particularly Seville standing desk. The only downside is that I cannot move it around. It sits in the same exact spot that it was in when my neighbor helped me turn it right side up after I assembled it. This is the only piece of furniture that I own that I CANNOT MOVE BY MYSELF, which is disappointing to me. ... show more

    • Great desk top, great mechanism, solid frame and construction, not great cable routing
Size: 54" 1-Piece Desktop Workstation Color: Black/Black
This would be a 5 star review considering the price, but I settled on 4.5 since it's not quite perfect in practice and not even a nearly-free desk should escape all criticism. The desk top is thick, solid and has a bevel around the edge that gives it a sleek look, which thankfully isn't as deep as another reviewer had implied - I was prepared to drill holes to mount my monitors stands, but it turns out the Mount-It and Ergotron brand mounting hardware reach just far enough in to make the bevel a non-issue. Measured square, the bevel is exactly 1" or ~2.6cm in depth. The smooth, textured surface is very fine, similar to the cover of a modern paperback book without the 'sticky' feeling. My Corsair hard top mouse pad is rougher in feel and induces only slightly less friction by comparison. I still prefer a mouse pad as the desk's surface can develop an exaggerated frictional feeling with build-up of dead skin cells, and would require frequent cleaning with regular use. When I made the purchase, I was afraid the black top / black frame model would have a faux wood veneer and texture on top, and I was relieved to discover that it does not. Just smooth, matte black on all surfaces and hardware. The mechanism moves at a somewhat leisurely but acceptable pace and isn't exceptionally quiet, but it's nowhere near loud. You couldn't hear its operation from another room if the door was closed. The front panel and preset selector works as expected, and the motors don't have any trouble lifting or safely lowering the odd 90lb of gear I keep on it. I'm not sure how it will live up to heavy daily sit/stand use, but it seems to be performing admirably for my uses - only adjusting it by a few points up or down every day. I have used much more expensive motorized desks recently, and their capacitive touch panels are unreliable and usually annoyingly placed. By contrast, this desk's control panel can be attached anywhere, and the buttons are tactile and perfectly responsive. Excellent design, even as a consequence of the price! One less-exciting feature about this table is the frame. While exceptionally solid and well-manufactured, the cross brace will get in the way if you want to install a retractable keyboard shelf on rails. The braces go straight through the middle, leaving less than 24cm in either front or behind for any kind of under-slung modification. For assembly, all tools you need are technically provided, but for installation of the control panel you will absolutely need a power screwdriver and optimally a drill set and some chalk to make guides unless you want it going on crooked. For assembly of the frame, you will have to release 8 tension screws on the cross braces to extend width to fit the standard size of the top. Be cautious not to unscrew them all the way as they're difficult to replace, and don't forget to tighten them down again or your desk will rattle. The one major issue with the assembly is the cable management of the power and data cables. That is to say, there is none, although you are mercifully provided a set of 8 cable routing loops on double-sided tape to assist with some organization, it's not exactly elegant and a cable is guaranteed to cross over the top of a brace, effectively reducing minimum height if you decide to place something large beneath the desk, like a computer tower. Nothing to watch out for after you have it assembled, just don't sit or jump on it. It's a fine desk that should last a long time. ... show more
