Great thermostat, easy to upgrade from older Sensi model. However, this Sensi Touch2 no longer seems to support Apple Homekit, which is a dissappointment, but not a deal breaker since their app is pretty good.

I've been meaning to order a smart thermostat for awhile and I don't know why I waited so long. It took no time at all to install it and I'd imagine if you're even the slightest bit capable with household maintenance you can do it too. There's even a built in level to make sure you get it just right. I appreciate the company's commitment to data privacy though I'm not sure I'd be too concerned if other companies found out that I like to keep the house nice and cool all year round. You need a C wire to make it work and some older homes in particular don't have them. This is how the thermostat gets power and if you don't have one it might be a good idea to get one installed. This is something you'd need to get your HVAC guy to do. Generally speaking, most homes built in the last 25 or 30 years should have one. Typically, the C-wire is blue or black but that's not standard across systems. What really makes the thermostat shine is the app. The Sensi app gives you access to a ton of control options and performance data. Remote access is great--if you've been out of town you can adjust the thermostat so that your home will be at the perfect temp when you arrive. You can also schedule the thermostat to set and adjust your temps automatically. It also lets you lock down the thermostat so no one messes with it. You also can view daily and historical heating, cooling and fan runtimes. The thermostat is compatible with Sensi room sensors--that raises your HVAC system to 11 by automatically monitoring the conditions in individual rooms and the thermostat can make adjustments based on that. I recently ordered this new Emerson Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat to control my downstairs HVAC system and the new Emerson Sensi Lite smart thermostat to control my upstairs HVAC system. I had been using Google Nest thermostats for over a year, but I finally got so frustrated with all of the changes they keep making to the interface that I decided to replace them. A few years ago I had used an older Emerson Sensi smart thermostat in my previous home, and I remember how nice the app was compared to the terrible Google Home app that you have to use for their thermostats, so I was happy I made the choice to go back to Emerson. My family spends about 80% of our time on the first floor, and that is also where our master bedroom is. So that's why I ordered the nicer Touch 2 model for our downstairs system. But both this model and the Lite one have most of the same features as long as you are using the app to control them. The Touch 2 does support Sensi Room Sensors, which I don't currently have. But otherwise the main advantage of the Touch 2 is that you can control most of the features with either the touchscreen or the app on your phone. Either thermostat would be fine for most homes. The Lite model does have one advantage over the Touch 2, however. The Touch 2 requires a C-wire, which some older homes don't have. But the Lite can run off of batteries if you don't have a C-wire. ... show more

I recently received the Sensi Touch 2 Smart Thermostat and I am extremely impressed with its performance. The thermostat is easy to install and comes with a clear and detailed instructions, making it a great option for those who are new to smart thermostats.     • Great Thermostat, Easy setup

This thermostat was very easy to install using the companion app. It asks you for the wires that you have currently on your thermostat. It then instructs you how to label them and then where to exactly put them. It has a built in R Jumper. The only thing I can complain about is the need for a C wire. I did not have a C wire so i purchased a wall outlet transformer that simply plugs into the C and R slots. The main reason i wanted this was for auto temperature control. We find ourselves switching back and forth between heat and air a lot and this takes out the hassle of trying to remember to turn the heat back on before bed so the house doesnt drop 10 degrees!
