I bought this as I wanted to put one bulb in the hall, living room, and 2 bedrooms so i can control them on/off even when I’m out of the town as if I was still home. Well- I didn’t realize my hallway has 3 recess lights that turn on/off together. For this bulb to work, u need to keep the switch to the on position - which means I’d have to either use 3 of these smart bulbs or keep the lights on so I can remote control the smart bulb - defeats the purpose. You need an Alexa recent enough to enable the "Alexa, find my devices" command to automate these. If you have one it couldn't be easier. I installed these in a ceiling fan and in a 3-bulb floor lamp, then grouped them together in the Alexa app. Works like a charm. They dim on command, are set up to run on a schedule, and have a very pleasant color temperature for general illumination. I like them so well I bought the candelabra-style bulbs for a chandelier a month later. I greatly prefer this Bluetooth mesh technology to the smart plugs I have, in which Alexa calls a server in China every time I turn them on and off. I'm looking to replace those next. ... show more
