It's held together by a print and very thin plastic with breaks over time. It has withheld our family abuse for about 5-6 months which is great. I bought this for my grand children to play old maid and go fish. It’s hard for them to hold the cards apart. But during the first use, the kids managed to make them fall apart. I’ve had another set for probably 30 years and never had that problem. The design is not the greatest. So we snapped them back together, and I gave them a lecture about being careful.
