  • Very impressed
Size: One Size
Paired with a Fitzgerald Fishing Bryan Thrift series drop shot rod, this reel is very smooth, very light and has performed extremely well from day one. Originally bought it to be my primary Crappie fishing set up, but it has since, accidently, caught several largemouth bass over 5 lbs, a 7 lb catfish and unfortunately a really big mudfish. hahahahaha! The drag on this reel, although an "ultra light" reel, is smooth and durable. I have recommended it to several of my other guides and serious angler friends. ... show more

  • Very smooth Reel
Size: One Size
Between my son (age 9) and I we have a few reels, but we just started fishing last year. We have a few south bend, which...yeah there's a reason i got myself a Shimano. We have two Pfluger's, a Kast king, a Mitchell 300, and an Okuma epixor 20. (pfluger 35 lady president, and golden wing combo with 30 sized president I think.) We fish for bluegill, bass, and sometimes trips to the trout farm, or the occasional pike from the local lake that surprise us. I got the shimano 1000 FI for myself to use on panfish (and probably the trout farm). as I said, I'm new at fishing, but this reel is very smooth. It is solidly build, and very well finished. No it doesn't have an anti reverse switch, and I don't care I don't like them anyway because the kids just tangle the lines around them... I haven't fished the reel yet, but I am very happy with it. lifelong fisherman or not, it's fairly easy to see if something is built with qaulity, and the shimano reel is. Last year I got a Kast King centron 500, and it doesn't even compare to my new shimano 1000. Considering the price is under 100$ i feel that it is a great value for the money. I plan on combining the shimano 1000 on a light weigh Fenwick rod for me to use as a light weight setup, i belive it will fill the role very well. ... show more

  • The best
Size: 2500
I have 2 of this and have no problems with salmon, lake trout and others. It's working. Better than others.

  • Nice small reel
Size: One Size
I wanted a smaller spinning reel for my wife to use for basic bass and pan fish. Haven't gone out yet but have used Shimano reels in the past and love 'em.

  • Smooth
Size: C3000
This reel is well worth the money. The reel is as smooth as any of the 60+ reel I own some of which cost significantly more. I spooled it with 30# Power Pro and it held the entire 300yd spool. I will be using it in saltwater inshore and am confident it will handle anything I can get a hook into!!

  • Outstanding reel
Size: C2000HGS
Shimano always gets it right for the money. Bail kicks over easy , reels smooth. Outstanding performance especially for the price. Super happy. Love the shallow spool so I don’t have to put backer on. Bought a Sharky 3 kastking which is a good reel but wish I would have bought this instead.

  • Smooth and lightweight
Size: Gear Ratio: 6.2:1 | Size: 4000
the 4000 Reel is definitely a great reel for dock or jetty fishing saltwater! Very lightweight and smooth operation. Holds enough braided line for me. I had bought the smaller reel not realizing this but this one holds a good amount of line with no tangles!.

  • Excellent Reel
Size: C2000S
As someone who sells these things on the regular, I was excited to get my hands on one you don't normally see in my area. I liked the idea of a reel with a shallow spool to pair up with a 5'6" UL for smallmouth and panfish. This thing, like the last generation Sedonas I own, casts like a dream, has a smooth retrieve and a solid drag. I'm really happy that Shimano added their cold-forged gearing to this generation of Sedona, as I love it in my Nasci 3000 I use for my topwater rig. Basically, if you like Shimano's stuff, the new Sedona conforms to their core principals: light weight, quality materials, and (with the Sedona at least) competitive pricing/value. ... show more
