  • Not 7200 RPM! Product title flawed.
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
Title line says explicitly 4TB 7200 RPM. I noted a drive going down on my Drobo and ordered on Sunday; Amazon had it at my door before I left for work Monday am, so that was amazing... but that also led me to quickly insert it to start rebuild before I left for work. It estimated 10 hours so it would be done by the time I got home. Now home it claims 4 hours left and Drobo says it is really 5800 RPM. Checking my order again, indeed the title claims 7200 for the 4TB, but lower in the ad section where it says in large text 7200 in smaller text underneath is says 5900 for 'lower capacity' versions. Finally in the product comparison it claims it to be 5900. It however is not even 5900, but rather 5800. Now I've got this inserted and nearly merged into the RAID data set, so it remains to be seen whether Amazon will agree to take it back. Were I to leave it there it would compromise the performance of the box for as long as it remained in place, so that is not much of an option. Perhaps I will let it finish and then do a disk benchmark to quantify the slowdown before deciding, but very unhappy with the situation. ... show more

  • Lies and False Promises with Warranty
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
First off, the Amazon product page just straight up lies about the warranty that comes with this drive. "Five-year limited product warranty protection plan and three year Rescue Data Recovery Services included " FALSE This drive comes with a three-year hardware warranty and no data recover services. Furthermore, Seagate tries to screw you over on what little warranty they offer. They claim the warranty starts on the day THEY SHIP IT TO AMAZON! So that means, by the time it gets to you, the warranty clock has already been ticking. Possibly for MONTHS! I ordered it Oct 1st, it arrived Oct 2nd, I registered it Oct 3rd of 2020. My warranty goes until June 27th of 2022. I lost almost 4 months because it sat on a shelf at an Amazon warehouse! How absurd! That's almost 12% of my warranty time period gone because of inventory management issues. Always verify and register your hard drives the day they arrive so you can return them if this happens to you. I will NEVER be buying a Seagate product ever again. If they can't even be honest about their warranty times, why should I trust them with my data? ... show more

  • Stated 7200 RPM Drive speed is false!
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
The IronWolf 4TB Drive speed is actually 5900 RPM according to actual Seagate IronWolf specifications. Only IronWolf drives equal to or greater than 6TB are 7200 RPM. If speed is an issue then get the larger drives.

  • The drives are good
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
Seagate is fine AMAZON sold me a re labeled drive Checking the serial number on seagates website revealed this These drives are a great product (when you get the actual product) Just DON’T BUY THEM FROM AMAZON The ones I got at micro center ALL checked out and I bought more there

  • Great drives
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
I've been running a few of these in my FreeNAS for about a year, and when it came time to increase storage size I bought a few more without hesitation. Nice that they give detailed drive information for monitoring (temperature, load averages, etc) and are whisper quiet. Shock protection is also great, I dropped one on tile floor while I was getting it out of the box and it had zero problems passing all tests and badblocks, not a single dead sector. I've had a few consumer grade drives fail in my NAS over the years, but not a single one of these has come close to breaking. Well worth the slightly higher cost if you have critical data to back up (or you just want additional peace of mind) :) ... show more

  • NOT 7200 RPM as the headline claims: fix your posting!
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
NOT 7200 RPM as the headline claims. They are 5900 RPM. If you really dig into the specs it says 5900 RPM in a few places Otherwise seem to work OK, but it’s only been 1 day

  • What is not to like?
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
Early on its hard not to be satisfied with the Seagate IronWolf. The NAS grade hard drives are more expensive than regular ones but, we hope, they are designed to run 24/7 for a long time. It is whisper quiet which was a really nice change from my old set up. But...the only review that will count is the one I could give you in about ten years. ... show more
