I got this on Prime Day sale for a dirt cheap price. 8tb is a ton of space for pictures, music and especially backups of my Blu Ray movies. The one major drawback that really ticked me off was this drive doesn't work well with external enclosures. I had this drive on a 2 drive USB 3.0 docking bay and within a couple days the format got corrupted and I lost several terabytes of Blu Ray movies. I was p##sed off. I had an six year old Seagate backup drive that recently became unusable. That drive was the ST3000DM001 and was one of worst drives Seagate ever produced and even faced a class action lawsuit at some point. I must have had one of the good drives because I barely had any problems until a few accidental disconnections created some bad sectors on the drive to the point the drive speed slowed to a crawl just recently and of course those bad sectors were not repairable. So I thought it was time to get a new one. As soon as I installed this drive I noticed the difference in speed and overall access time on my system in an instant. It's only a 5400rpm H.D.D but it's being primarily used for storing files. So far so good. I was able to save the data off my old drive and make use of this one. I hope it will last for some years. I usually look to WD for hard drives but saw this one on sale and I thought why not, Seagate cant be all that bad still.
