It is hard to find a rod holder for less than $30 that can handle big fish and can mount to a square tube pontoon rail. This one gets it done. I am a catfish angler who routinely catches 30lb + catfish in the Tennessee River. I tried the cheap wal-mart rod holder, but the splines strip/slip if a big fish is on no matter how tight you tighten the adjustment. These have big splines and do not slip. I fish off a pontoon with 1 1/4 railing all the way around. I have used Scotty holders for years. This version is just as good as all the others. The fit to rail is perfect. The screws are a great length. Fit and finish is good and leaves zero doubt your expensive rod and reel are secure. Taking a star off for pricing as these are expensive. Top flight quality!! ,but wish the incert was a little bigger though!! Your big grip Handel my not fit at all!!! Only straight grip handles will fit.
