  • Good solid tire chains
Style: Cam Style Pattern Name: Chain
So these chains seem extremely durable and so far I'm very happy with the purchase. They're only easy to put on if you know what you're doing and you take the time to play with them at home long before your next trip on snowy/iced roads. DO NOT wait to put these on when you're already on your trip in the snow. Watch the video, read the instructions, and most importantly, be patient and take your time (at home when it's a nice warm day outside). And don't get in a hurry. The built in cams work great, but when you first have the chains on the tire, you'll need to get as much loose slack out of the chain as possible (this is where you'll need to put some muscle into it) before you tighten the cams. Some have reported that the cams don't tighten the chains enough. They will if you get as much of the loose slack as you can out of it. But if you're not physically strong enough to do that, have someone stronger do it, or you can always carry a few bungee cords with you or the spider tightener. That said, the cams themselves should do the job just fine on their own. Again, just get as much slack out as possible. When I first put them on, I was able to hook one link on the inside of the tire, and 2 on the outside. Once I played with it for about 15 mins, I was able to get 3 links of slack on the inner tire, and 4 links on the outside. (tired to get 4 on the inside, but couldn't). The chains were so tight, I could barely tighten the cams and that's what you want. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Worked Perfectly!
Style: Cam Style Pattern Name: Chain
*NOTE- these chains ARE NOT SAE-S (as instructed to be used in the 2015 F-150 Manual). I searched for hours on tire chains, and found a video from a northern state’s Highway Patrol installing a chain that looked just like this (they didn’t say the brand or source). But what I liked, was the built in tension disks. Other chains required bungees and straps, this didn’t. I bought this for my F-150’s 265/70R17 tires. It’s RWD, and after reading the manual and online sources, you only chain the tires that have drive. They arrived quickly, in a fabric bag. Installation is rather easy, even in the snow. But- I HIGHLY advise watching “how-to” videos. The tightening disks come with a “key” to tighten. And they fit perfectly snug! The only problem is there were a few extra links free hanging. Hindsight- you’ll want to cut the extra links off, otherwise they fly out and tap. We used yarn & carabiners to keep a fixed. We had no issues going up steep mountain roads in <4° temperatures with feet of snow and ice at Beech Mountain NC. After reading reviews of other products in this price range a lot of people were saying other chains were breaking or didn’t fit, rusted or didn’t have clearance. All I can say is do your research. Seriously. In icy conditions you, your families, and other lives are at stake so invest an hour and make sure you’re buying what fits your vehicle. With that, SO MANY products on Amazon that pop up when you type in your vehicle and/or tire size are wrong. Read the product number of the item being sold, then see if they have a chart in the photos and ensure it matches your tire. These will rust (steel+abrasion+road salt=rust), make sure to wash them and lightly oil them when done and store oiled. Pros- arrived quick, fit perfectly, easy to instal, provided great traction in some sketchy situations, worked great! Cons- sizing is not intuitive/listed by vendor (make it easier to verify), heavy! (30#), NOT SAE-S, if you’re not use to chains it’s a bumpy and loud ride lol. ... show more

  • Good chains, but recommend for half ton trucks not three-quarter ton
Style: Cam Style Pattern Name: Chain
Great set of chains, easy to use on and off in five minutes. The one downfall is that the steel is definitely not rated for a three-quarter ton pick up truck if you are doing anything but just driving in slippery conditions. I got myself a little stuck and had to give it a little bit of extra gas and I ripped both chains in a half. Overall very handy though, I’ve used them several times this winter already to get me out of a pinch. ... show more

  • Literally a life saver
Style: Cam Style Pattern Name: Chain
So glad I bought these. Went elk hunting far into the backcountry and got caught in the middle of a snow storm and these chains were our saving grace! Very easy to put on and they work like a charm! Cams work great and they stay in place! The price is right and if you're lucky you can pick them up used for cheaper! ... show more

  • These are the best chains I’ve ever owned
Style: Cam Style Pattern Name: Chain
These chains are excellent. Very durable. I bought 2 sets so that I could chain up all 4 wheels while in 4WD. The cams enabled me to get the chains very snug on the tires. I was able to crawl through 18” deep powder, and even up fairly steep inclines. Since I was chained up I was able to rescue other vehicles that were not. I also used the 6 point bungies as added tension, but would have been fine and plenty tight without the bungies. I was also able to travel 35 mph on paved roads with no snow on them. Being able to leave the chains on until I got to the next snow covered trail was a great time saver. I absolutely abused these chains and they performed flawlessly. I highly recommend these and would never be with these again. If you want heavy duty high quality and excellent performance look no further. Be sure to download the size chart when determine which model number chains to order. These chains fit many different size tires. I am personally running them on LT265/75-R16’s ... show more

  • Pretty good value
Style: Cam Style Pattern Name: Chain
I am happy with this purchase. The chains fit well (QG2228CAM) fit my LT275/65/18 All Terrain tires. I have never had chains with the cams, and they worked pretty well on my fit check and quick drive. Once I drove a bit I loosened the 4 cams and then tightened the outer runner one more chain link and then re tightened the cams. They are not zinc plated and are made well as far as the gauge of the chains etc. Although these are not top of the line chains (no V-bar, have to be put on the traditional way by driving forward over them, etc) they should work for most people's needs at a moderate price. I didn't get the self tightening type because of some reviews about them breaking and I didn't want to chance it (didn't want plastic parts performing a critical function in my chains and plastic and moving parts {ratchet} in the cold and getting beat up and contaminated as chains do doesn't sound like a good idea to me). ... show more
