This Saudoli blackout window shade measures 118” X 57”, and is made of a high density polyethylene material. At first, I was concerned that the thin material may not be suitable for my purpose. But the multilayered material is more substantial and durable than it appears to be. It’s very easy to install on a small window, spreading out and cutting the large sheet down to size was the most challenging part for me, but overall, installation was fairly smooth. I simply measured my window, cutout a piece of the appropriate size and shape, cleaned the window, attached the velcro fasteners to the window frame and to the back of the window shade, and then fastened the shade to the window frame with the velcro. It can also be installed using the included circular glue tape disks, but I opted for the velcro installation method. The blackout effect is very close to 100%, definitely suitable for my purpose, and my room feels much cooler now, without sunlight penetrating the room and heating it up. The noise reduction is very minimal, but I may install small curtains over the window shade, for additional noise reduction. I’m using this blackout shade on a small window that had been getting hit with direct sunlight for most of the day. The excessive sunlight was overheating the room, making it very uncomfortable during the day. This blackout shade helped provide a fairly economical solution to my problem. I like that it sits much closer to the window pane than curtains or blinds do, the closer proximity to the window pane seems to help the shade more effectively block out sunlight. The side facing outside is silver colored, and the indoor facing side is white colored. The shade is portable, and it comes with a black carrying bag, although it doesn’t entirely close properly. This shade is suitable for use on most bedroom, living room, laundry room, dorm room, or office, windows, and it can be cut to the precise window shape and size, as needed.     • Works as intended but not very convenient to mount/dismount daily
This “curtain” is a giant sheet of paper-thin vinyl that you can cut to size. It comes folded and took two people to carefully but forcefully peel it apart. Cutting was easy (too easy because the blade can run wild on the smooth surface) so the measurement must be exact. It’s so lightweight such that using the included Velcro can definitely hold it in position. However this is also where some inconvenience comes in. If you have to peel off the Velcro multiple times a day just to see daylight again then it’s not as easy as using a pull down shade. My home office faces south and living in the Sun Belt means getting cooked by the sunlight for hours each day. This shade cools off the 15x10 room by 2 degrees Fahrenheit. I was honestly hoping to see more cooling. When considering how it looks afterwards and the price of $32.99 for a sheet of vinyl, I can’t justify giving it a 5 star even though it does block out light and some heat as described.     • This really works!
If you are up at sunlight, work nights, or just like to sleep in, you need this stuff. It's hard to stay asleep when the sun is shining through the windows. That goes for people and dogs, and our dogs were waking me up at the crack of dawn. I needed to cover the windows in a set of French doors in the master bedroom (couldn't use blackout curtains), and I liked this because it was removable. The fabric is black on the inside, and reflective on the outside, and comes in a long length that you can cut to fit any size window (cutting tool provided). Also included in the kit are velcro strips, but it only came with 12 pre-cut strips, so I was only able to attach the fabric at the four corners and the middle two sides. That was enough to get the fabric pretty tight on the window, and the next morning, only a small sliver of light came through around the edge. If they had provided a roll of velcro so you could make the strips as long as you needed, you could keep 100% of the sunlight out. That being said, I was very happy with how this product worked, because both the dogs and I got an extra hour's sleep. Hooray! ... show more

What I like about this product- It pretty much does exactly what it's supposed to. It reflects a lot of sunlight and keeps my room cooler in the summer. It does a pretty good job at blocking out most of the light and creating a much darker room. They provide you with a couple different mounting options. It can be cut to fit almost any size window. What I disliked about this product- Cutting the material is a bit awkward especially when trying to keep perfect straight lines. Even after sticking it up, there are still small gaps in between the spots with the velcro that let in some light. The material is pretty thin and can be a little hard to work with. Overall I am satisfied with this product and it does what I need it to do and that's what matters. ... show more

We recently moved into a new house, and we inherited a theater in the basement. The previous owners had blackout curtains, but they didn’t do a very good job at covering the sun light. After installing the “window blackout shades”, it made a huge difference to the darkness in the basement and therefore the quality of the image of the projector looked even better. I have to mention though that you will need to use a lot of Velcro or something more permanently to attach the “window shades blackout” all over the edges, so you don’t get sunlight through the edges of the window. I didn’t do that, however, on top of these “window blackout shades”, I put back the existing blackout curtains, and that way the basement is even darker. I have plenty of “window blackout shade” leftovers that I’m planing to use for some other windows for when I have visitors that are sensitive to sunlight.
