Update: I called the Sauder company for a warranty claim. I didn't have high expectations. But it was very easy. I explained that I would like a new door shipped to me & the lady gathered my info & is shipping one out to me right away. They provided excellent hassle free customer service. It a fairly plain cabinet but it did it's job. We use it as a "coat closet" in our living room, right by the entrance to the house. We have no closets etc (123 year old house) so we put our bags, most frequently worn shoes, coats, etc in here for 2 adults, 1 child. But 9 months after purchase and one of the doors (the one above the drawers) fell apart at the seams. All of the them. Now this door comes pre-assembled. So it wasn't that we assembled it poorly. It comes preassembled and we only had to screw the hinges on & attach it to the cabinet. Well, it fell apart. We used wood glue on the seams and the wooden pegs to put it back together but that only lasted about a month and it fell apart again. Wish I had bought the insurance, but I didn't. ... show more

I bought this for my sewing supplies and materials; it fits the bill all the way around. There are some areas, you will need a drill so that you can get the screws in, keep that in mind. It is very sturdy and looks very nice when built. We took our time and also used carpenter's glue as extra strength. There is plenty of room on all shelves and I have my bolts of fabric standing in the area with the hanging rod. I would highly recommend that you put the hanging rod brackets on the proper sides BEFORE you put it all together. It is hard to squeeze in there to do it after the cabinet is built. Make sure to attach this to your wall as it can wiggle if your floor is uneven. As you can tell, we put the back support board (at the top of back) inside out. I figured it was okay as the cabinet will be closed. ha ha ... show more

When unboxed, one door panel had a deep scratch in it and the doors are the flimsiest part of this armoire. Otherwise it's decently made. The doors should be made thicker since they are getting used the most. It was relatively easy to put together, about 3.5 hrs and two people.

Looking for extra storage I researched this item on both the Sauder and Amazon sites prior to purchasing. Unfortunately when I received the item it was missing cam parts and included what I believed was a defective top piece that was unfinished and has dark spots that I thought might be some sort of glue residue. I contacted Sauder directly to order replacements and was told that they would get cams out asap but the top piece was fine. Rep stated that Sauder does not finish the top on their large pieces because it is not seen. (I have other tall Sauder products so this was a first for me.) I was told that, even though not seen, the bottom is finished because it holds the most weight and the finish helps with wear. I told the Sauder rep that where I planned to place the cabinet the top would be seen and that I also had concerns over wear from cleaning the top. The rep recommended I look for some nice contact paper to cover the top since I would see it and that it might help with my concerns about cleaning and add some protection to product. When I expressed frustration that neither the Sauder or Amazon sites state that the product top is unfinished and a 3D view of the item on the Amazon site shows a completely finished cabinet I was told that my concerns would be ‘noted’ and was advised to contact Amazon about the 3D picture. So, I called Amazon and, surprisingly, was told that the top of the product is unfinished. When pressed on why this is not stated in the description and that a 3D view of the product does show a finished top the Amazon rep indicated that they did not have access to view the 3D photos (what?!?!?!) and recommended that I include the information in a review with comments. Amazon then offered a small discount and, since I cannot return in original packaging, said that they could arrange a special freight pickup if I want to return. Very frustrating, and disappointed with Amazon. Why offer 3D or ‘view in room’ options if product depiction is not accurate? Both Sauder and Amazon need to update their descriptions to include this information. I would not have purchased in the first place had I known. ... show more

Paid $230, not worth more. -the top is unfinished, means anyone over 6’ will see the ugly fabricated wood. Can’t use this in a two story home area where you can look down at it. -so flimsy, feels like you could knock it down with a good push. Do NOT place anything heavy inside. We are only using it for blankets, vacuum and pet supplies. -panels slightly misaligned no matter what. I’ve put furniture together for years and this one just doesn’t come out perfectly no matter how many adjustments I make. Think the doors warped due to heat and humidity. -instructions aren’t great, had to assume things along the way. Figured they had it backwards when the unfinished wood was facing outward but that’s the way the holes were cut. Only way it would fit together, means they’re were too cheap to finish the top of the dresser. Wow The good things are the looks, from far away it looks expensive. Also the price, at around $200 this is a cheap way to store some light weight items. The kids can use it easily, as the doors are light/flimsy and little hands can open them. Overall, know what you’re getting into. Assembly was tedious but not bad for one person. The material is cheap, the shelves can’t hold much weight and no idea how long it will last.
