I purchased 2 of these bookshelves to be used as nightstands in our guest bedroom. I wanted something with shelving so I could place towels, extra blankets, and anything else our guests might need on them. I liked that these were taller than the normal 24” nightstands come in because we have a bed that sits higher than normal. Our bed in the guest room is a much darker wood so I knew I’d need to change the color of them. I painted the base a brass color and used marble contact paper to cover the shelves. If they had matched I definitely would have left them as is because the original color and texture of the shelves is great, but it just didn’t match what I needed it for. If you are going to paint them I would suggest doing a light sanding and using primer first. It’s a very smooth surface and the paint didn’t adhere as well when I tried it without sanding and priming the first time. Great price for sturdy shelves and for a low additional cost I was able to customize them to our home. ... show more

I've been looking for a small bookshelf that would fit at the end of my kitchen to maximize the space in my apartment. For $45, I figured this bookcase was worth a shot. What surprised me the most (in a good way) was how well-packed and detailed all of the parts were (see attached photos). Bonus points for including spare screws. All of the boards are pretty flush with the two the metal frames. None of them are sticking out obnoxiously far. One was a perfect fit (see attached photos). I love this damn thing. Super easy to put together, did it within 10 minutes. It’s super sturdy and holds up well while moving it around. Not heavy at all. This shelf just arrived and was super easy to assemble. I think it took a grand total of 20-minutes to do so. It came together nicely and works well for our purposes. Each shelf is said to hold up to 30 lbs. I haven't tested that theory yet, but I have no reason to doubt that it would stand up to said weight. 🙂 The shelf looks to be of good quality at a great price. Thank you!!! ... show more

First this shelf was easy to assemble. Once assembled it seemed to be a reasonably sturdy piece with little minor uneveness. My husband tweaked it a bit and fixed that. But with cheap piece of furniture I have come to expect this. What I did not expect was for the wood-like shelves to look so horribly fake. I mean they look like printed vinyl that someone this scratched trying to make it look rustic/aged. The color is a little off as well. In the picture it looked more grey tones with in fact it's more like straw looking yellow beige . We kept this because for the price it certainly wasn't worth trying to send back and one can always us storage someplace. It's just more cheap looking that expected and I have a high tolerance for cheap looking... so consider that. For the price this will work, but just do not expect it to look authentic in any respect at all ( my closet made shelves look better). ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I really like how this bookcase looks, but after assembling it was wobbly. I contacted Sauder customer support and they recommended loosening/re-tightening the bolts. That did not fix the issue. They directed me back to Amazon to get a replacement, but all options require sending this unit back. It is too much of a hassle to disassemble, re-package and ship it back so I am just going to keep it and maybe shove something under the legs to stabilize it. I love the style of this bookcase, and the size. It feels pretty sturdy as well. The problem for me is there is a missing punch/hole on the bottom tier for one of the support arms for the shelf to attach to. As I don't have any equipment capable of punching a hole through two sides of the bracket I'm currently unable to comfortably put any real weight on that side of the bottom shelf. I went ahead and put it together and am asking around to see if I know anyone who can fix this for me so I can attach the bottom arm properly, but I'm in a bind for time so I'm sort of stuck with it regardless. It was also wobbly enough after assembling that I needed to scrounge up something to put under a corner to level it. No big deal on that front. Update: my brother just popped a hole where needed using a drill; looks quite nice and other than the very fixable wobble Iits perfect for what I need ... show more

I debated about these shelves. Wood floors, wood dressers, I didn't really want the wood nightstands. The metal frame drew me in, the actual shelf had me second guessing. I saw where another customer used marble contact paper and I was sold! Assembly was beyond simple. So simple, our toddler son did the heavy work with assembling the metal frame. Don't tighen the screws all the way until all the pieces are together. Then I added some contact paper, screwed in the shelves and voila. It is just another particle board shelf so I deducted the value for money since it is not substantial in size. The instructions say each shelf holds 30 lbs. ... show more
