  • Looks nice and sturdy enough to last
Color: Estate Black Finish Pattern Name: Computer Desk
My old computer desk was on its last legs so before it completely collapsed under the weight of my computer, I needed to find a replacement. I found this one. My husband is also impressed with how sturdy it seems to be. No spots where the connection isn't very strong or tight. Everything on this desk is secured well. The wood grain is very hard to see due to how dark this desk is. It's fine as it matches the rest of the room decor, but if you want a desk that clearly shows the wood grain and its a dealbrraker, this isn't for you. I saw people asking about the back of the desk, so I took some pics before moving it in place. I also took a picture of the keyboard tray fully deployed as I know that was a concern of mine. It works great; pulls out and then the drawer face folds down. All very smooth. Lastly, I took a picture of the file drawer as that was another concern. It is smaller than my previous desk, and may be too small if you have a lot of files to put here. For me, it's still enough space as I don't file a ton (mostly bills and tax stuff for one year, the rest is boxed and stored) Overall, I really love the look and sturdiness of this desk and would recommend it. ... show more

  • Practically Perfect in Every Way
Color: Chalked Chestnut Finish Pattern Name: Computer Desk
This desk ALMOST had it all, and I was sad to find out towards the end of putting it together that the design of it is a bit flawed and the advertisement is misleading. However, even with its flaws, I'm giving it a 5/5 because it's just so damn gorgeous. You would think the two drawers on the right would actually be the same size on the inside that is depicted on the outside, right? Wrong. The drawers are roughly 4 inches smaller than the actual vanity panel that you see in the pictures, making them not nearly as deep as I originally though they'd be. Additionally, because of where the pre-drilled holes were drilled, the drawers rest on top of each other. This means when I open the bottom drawer, the top drawer is resting on it and also opens (and vice versa). Yes, the drawers are still functional, but do you see what I mean when I said design flaw? The bottom drawer is advertised as a filing cabinet. While I WAS able to fit files in there, it's a very tight squeeze, so be ready to purge your existing files. Some people might have to change the type of file folders they use due to the shallow nature of the drawer. In addition, the left cabinet is for a computer tower. If you have a custom-built PC like me, be prepared to have a rough time getting your tower to fit in there. I was a little nervous that it wouldn't have enough circulation, but it seems to be doing alright so far! The only other issue I had was the left door where the computer tower is stored. These hinges are the spawn of Satan himself. Both my boyfriend and I could not get the side screws to progress, and I eventually had to stand up and force all my weight into the screwdriver to get it to catch. Eventually, it worked, but only after a lot of frustration and saying "Are we stupid? WHY can't we get this to work?!". So new desk buyers: be prepared to muscle the hell out of those door screws. All-in-all, the desk is BEAUTIFUL. The things I mentioned above are not detrimental to the functionality or the aesthetic of the desk. It is HUGE and perfect for what I wanted (digital illustration & office-related grown-up things). The chalked white is a beautiful modern-yet-antique look, and the surfaces are grooved, mimicking real wood. This was a perfect focal point of my studio and is an absolute steal for the price. ... show more

  • Good desk
Color: Chalked Chestnut Finish Pattern Name: Computer Desk
This was really easy to put together actually we got it done in about an hour took two people. The finish is textured and better than I expected. I was expecting a cheap laminate but this is a little better than that. I use it as my vanity table and it works quite well for me. My only complaint is that the drawers don’t open smoothly. They get jammed and hit the sides but I mainly went for this desk because of the price and look. Also this desk is not flush with the wall because the top overhangs and you can’t push it all the way against the wall but other than those two things it’s perfect . ... show more

  • I can not recommend this product.
Color: Chalked Chestnut Finish Pattern Name: Computer Desk
Not all of the pieces are cut correctly nor are the drillings correctly placed . The directions could be better and the video is not much help . It is definetly worth the extra money to buy a piece of furniture which is already assembled from Sauder. I would not recommend purchasing Sauder's put together furniture kits . I have bought and assembled many other companies kits with no problems. This is not one of those . It is too bad because it would have been very nice if it went together correctly. I also can't return the kit. I had to cut the carton completely apart to remove all the parts . I should note that Sauder did not manufacture the kit. It was made in China . ... show more

  • Missing and incorrect parts
Color: Estate Black Finish Pattern Name: Computer Desk
The directions were terrible. It came with the WRONG PARTS and missing parts. I hired a licensed contractor to put this together for me and he had to call support. That's UNACCEPTABLE. There were so many missing and incorrect parts that now I have to wait for the correct parts here and have my contractor come back. It feels sturdy for what has been able to be put together. For this kind of money the least that should be expected is correct and no missing parts. Better instructions would be a plus. I'm going to be making a complaint. This should NOT have taken a professional 3 hours. That's how long it would take me and I'm injured right now. I would NOT recommend buying this because who knows if you'll get everything you need for it. It's very heavy and time consuming just getting everything out and separated. It sure looked like everything was there. I'm livid. Waiting for replacement parts and return trip from my contractor. I sure hope that's once it's finally together I can be happy with this new desk. I'll upgrade the rating later. On a good note: the customer service representative, from Sauder, Aimie figured the problem out. My contractor wants her to get a raise and so do I! She truly saved the day. I'll add a star because of her. I'd like to bring this all the way up to 5 stars. For now this needs to be a warning. ... show more
