  • Great but cables come out a bit too easily and unit itself could be more secure
Color: Space Gray
Got this so I could use my 36" super high def monitor with my M1 Macbook Air and this works well for that. Some lag compared to laptop monitor but better than another no-name brand I tried first. That one (highest rating on Amazon) had issues with monitor output where it would flicker and appeared interlaced (horizontal lines) at times so I had to return that one. That one also had terrible lag for mouse cursor movement. Satechi is the brand recommended on Apple's website so I had high expectations. This is not the exact model found on the Apple website but has built-in ethernet, which I required. Minimizes clutter compared to dongle-style, matches my space gray Macbook perfectly. Might find something better but probably would cost more than double. Soft recommend. ... show more

  • Almost loved everything I about it. But the one thing I didn’t was a dealbreaker.
Color: Space Gray
I really wanted to love this hub, I hate docking even a single star, but ultimately it didn’t work for me. First, what I loved: the feel and quality and material. It feels like it could be an apple product. It *looks* astounding, and I loved that it matched perfectly with my space grey 2020 Macbook Pro 13in. The ports were perfectly spaced and clearly thoughtfully designed, and made it very easy to integrate my USB B cords (Watch, iPad Air, and external mic). Thanks to the recent increase in work from home, I bought this to use essentially as a dock for my laptop when I’m at my desk, though I liked having the option to take it with me when travel begins again. Day to day, my Macbook occupies a vertical stand on my desk with the hub plugged in connecting an external screen, iPad (sidecar) and periphals. My only problem (and the dealbreaker) is that the hub became disconnected from my with the slightest touch or bump. And if I had to remove a cord plugged into the hub, it was impossible to keep the hub plugged into the MacBook. I played around a lot making sure the hub was fully connected, but it never quite felt stable. I would expect that kind of thing if I was utilizing it on the go frequently. But with this basically serving as a poor woman’s dock, having to reseat the hub all the time is annoying. In additon, because the hub requires the use of both USB-C ports, getting both ports lined up to plug in without having eyes on the connection is time consuming and frustrating. Maybe I got a bum one, but at this point I’ll either invest in a true dock or look into the corded hub by Satechi. This one didn’t work for me. ... show more

  • Delivers on it's intended purpose, but not perfect!
Color: Space Gray
I'm so happy that I purchased this item. Joining the MacBook Mob means buying several different dongles, right? Wrong! This one device supports the Ethernet I need for online streaming of my games, it supports HDMI for watching movies or playing games on the TV, charges my laptop through the USB-C, and has two additional USB-A ports to spare for my XBOX controller and one other device. Finally, I never use the Micro-SD, but I suppose it'd help some. For my purpose, it meets all the needs I could ever have on the go short of the possible DisplayPort for plugging into external monitors at work (but many monitors nowadays use HDMI or USB-C). Only gripes are very minor. Looking in the side of the device the USB ports do not lie quite flat and appear slightly crooked in the angle that the plug goes in, but it is not enough that it impacts usage or scrapes. Second gripe is that the ethernet port and the aluminum itself is not as durable as the aluminum on the actual MacBook (though not sure how or why), so I already have some very small dents (less than 1 mm) in the device, and it lives in my Coach Bag whenever I'm not using it, so I'm not sure what was dense enough to dent it. Overall, it is far more beautiful and portable than most USB-C hubs that I've seen, so I have no problem recommending it. I'd get it again for sure. • Works out of the box
Color: Space Gray
I read a lot of reviews about a lot of devices after getting my new work laptop that has no HDMI, USB, or ethernet connectors. I like to keep my laptop out of the way and I use a USB keyboard, USB camera/microphone, HDMI monitor, ethernet connection and power connection. I snapped in the adapter and everything worked perfectly. I had read reviews of this and other products that indicated some functions weren't working very well, but everything has tested out just fine for me. I've had the power connected for about 8 hours already and there is hardly any noticeable heat on the hub. Only thing that took me a few extra seconds to understand was that the adapter has to 'snap' into your laptop. It takes a little force, but you hear a 'click' when it goes in. I assume it will be tricky taking it out for when I travel -- which is usually about every two weeks. The adapter looks to be the exact same color as my mac and the materials even look to be the same if that matters to you. Since the laptop is out of the way I almost never see mine. I do worry a bit about the durability. The snapping required to get the hub inserted is pretty significant. I can see how, over time, I could damage the connectors. We shall see. I only use the laptop for 3 years so I guess that means I have 72 times to disconnect and reconnect over it's usefulness. I will probably have to buy another adapter if I get a Mac again. Overall, I'm thrilled with the hub. It works exactly as I expected and I notice zero deficiencies with the connections. ... show more

  • Perfect everyday solution for limited MacBook port options
Color: Silver
Excellent, practical adaptor for my MacBook Pro. For simple everyday use, I prefer this to Satechi’s other dangling adaptor with additional ports. I like how it locks in place. Less stress on the laptop’s Thunderbolt 3 ports. High quality and reasonably priced, especially compared to Apple’s overpriced products. ... show more
