Most "white" lights are actually a sort of yellowish. It's so obvious when next to these, which are the brightest white with a sort of vague blueish tone. I was not able to keep any of my old outdoor lights because of how different the color is between old incandescent yellowish ("white") holiday lights vs these. They really are completely different colors. These are somewhat harsh, really, but I do love them enough to have purchased them for all outdoor lighting after using them for my Christmas Tree this year. I only used three strands (a box and a half, there are two strands per box) for my 7 foot tree; I'm really confused how people are saying they're using 6 or 7 strands for the same size tree - must be able to see that thing as a beacon from space! I bought these lights as a complete replacement for an older set of LED lights I no longer trusted or could replace. Overall, I'm happy. The bulbs themselves are much smaller than most LED "button" lights, and they're consequently not quite as bright. They're also yellower, trending a bit orange, compared to other warm white LED's, so be cautious. (Brightness and color were not an issue for me, but I definitely couldn't mix these and old strands on a given bush.) The wires themselves are thinner than other LED strands and they remain surprisingly flexible even in cold weather. The 2-prong plug is large due to the flashing options and built-in timer (neither of which I'm using). The versatility appears when you link strands together. There is a long "leader" wire that runs from the 2-prong plug to where the lights begin. This leader can be unscrewed at both the plug and the start of the lights and removed, allowing the 2-prong plug to start right at the lights if desired. When linking strands, stands are not connected using the standard male/female 2-prong electrical plug. Instead, a cap is unscrewed from the round female plug at the end of the first strand, and the next strand is attached using a round male plug at the start of the second strand and cinched together with the end of the first strand using a threaded retaining nut. This makes the connection robust and water-tight. Of course, the standard 2-prong electrical plug and initial leader (without lights) should be removed from the second strand, which results in a continuous flow of lights from the first strand to the second. (For most LED strands, linking 2 strands together leaves a gap in lights of 18-24" caused by that initial leader on the second strand.) This light spacing continuity from one strand to the next is a really nice feature. It does, however, mean there is a lot of waste: I have five strands linked together, meaning I have four 2-prong plugs and four leaders I'm not using. This may end up being nice if rabbits end up chewing through the initial leader on low-hanging strands--I've got plenty of replacements! They recommend only linking 5 strands max. I've linked as many as 6 with no issues, while most LED strands allow for linking of 20 or more. Maybe the recommendation here of only 5 is due to the flashing options? Overall, if you don't mind the slightly dimmer lights and yellow/orange-ish color, I would recommend these lights. ... show more

I bought these because I wanted the slow, twinkling effect. Closest setting to this is slow twinkling alternating with a strobe light effect. Very disappointing. Would return except I’ve already put them on the tree.

These LED lights were perfect for restringing our tree after I stripped the old incandescent ones out. I used 7 strings to fully light our 7 foot tree. They are nice and bright and all worked perfectly out of the box. I like the way you can connect multiple strings together since our tree is in 3 separate sections and I wanted to be able to take the tree apart without disconnecting light strings. My wife is very happy to have a fully lit tree again and we will be able to use it for many years to come. ... show more

I bought these to add to an existing perlite tree! I unfortunately had to add after it was decorated. So easy to connect several strand to one plug! We are so grateful we tried them! They changed our whole Christmas tree! We love the twinkle setting! We will buy more to put on next year!
