Rather than wait months for a custom build, I purchased a renewed Mac Studio from Apple with a 512GB drive. This drive completely fulfills my storage needs and is more than fast enough. It tested just above 2,550 r/w on an APFS encrypted partition. I can't fault the drive but feel this should be mentioned: I thought I had a DOA unit at first because it would not show up in Drive Utility. I tried changing ports, cables, and even going back to regular USB 3... no errors, no drive, nothing but the white LED on the front. I then unplugged my other Thunderbolt ports, connected just the drive with it's cable and it popped right up. I expected from the reviews that I could run 4K footage off this Ssd drive and edit it in real time… what I bought it for. But I edit on davinci resolve and it still lags hard when editing, unless there is something I haven’t done for the performance to get better. It says the it can handle 8k footage fine but yet 4K braw footage is having problems. :( ... show more

Excellent fast drive from my sound library for use with music production. I got about 2400 MB/s read and 2000 MB/s write with AFS encrypted (which should slow down things a bit to encrypt/decrypt). Which is close to my internal drive on my 2019 Macbook Pro. Pros: - Very fast drive - Elegant look - Solid TB 3 wire to the computer Cons: - A bit bulky - Lost the nice drive icon after formatting with AFS encrypted With M.2 SSD became faster and available at 7000 MB/s I was looking for an enclosure that uses Thunderbolt to get that speed for an external drive. All I found was unreliable enclosures claiming reaching 40 GB/s speed, but reviews were not that great. Till I found this drive from SanDisk and another one from Samsung that was not available in stock at the time. I took the risk trusting SanDisk, and I'm very happy with the purchase. ... show more

Please do not buy this. These are defective. Most of these items are returned to the manufacture. I spent two weeks of my time to figure out what is wrong with this product. Finally, the Sandisk representative asked me to return this as defective for refund.
