  • False advertising of “even cooling”, measured temp
The highest and lowest temperatures are 34°F and 53°F (nearly 20°F apart!) when the fridge temp is set to 34°F! We bought a pack of 6 refrigerator thermometers to cross check to make sure it’s not the thermometer, and the readings are still the same. Although this refrigerator has 4 vents where cold air can come out, there’s still huge variance in the back and front, as well as top to bottom. On the back of the fridge (4 shelves and 2 drawers), from top to bottom, the temperatures measured are: 36, 42, 39, 48, 36, 36. On the front of the fridge (5 shelves on door), from top to bottom, the temperatures measured are: 53, 42, 44, 45, 40. The freezer is a bit better. On the back of the freezer (4 shelves and 2 drawers, from top to bottom, the temperatures measured are: 0, 2, -2, 0, 0, 0. On the front of the freezer (2 shelves), from top to bottom, the temperatures measured are: 4, 2. The attached picture is of the top part of refrigerator, where the back shelf of fridge measures 40°F (in between the grey and red on the thermometer), and the top shelf of the fridge (right next to that shelf) measures 50°F (in the red on the thermometer). The fridge setting is at 34° at the time I measured because the default setting of 37°F makes the actual temperatures too hot. The safe fridge temperature is below 40°F according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), so this refrigerator seems unsafe and practically unusable unless you only use a quarter of the space in the fridge because setting the temperature very cold freezes food at certain parts of the fridge, and setting it higher risks food poisoning at warmer parts of the fridge. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE
We bought our Family Hub 6 years ago. From the beginning our fridge had constant problems. The wifi wouldn't work regularly. Then it stopped working entirely. So you can't get Pandora, Instacart or the other features. Samsung support had no clue of what to do and it was out of warranty. The temperature controls were off, so the freezer would sometimes cut out entirely. We had to throw food away. The ice machine is slow and doesn't make great ice. But worst of all, after only six years the freon stopped pumping and the freezer wouldn't work at all. Unlike other fridges, the warranty is good for only one year. Most other manufactures give you a five year warranty on certain parts. Not Samsung. We decided to try and repair it but the first nine repair shops said they wouldn't touch a Samsung. There were so many problems with getting parts and Samsung would not give them the necessary, technical details to fix the fridge. Samsung wants you to use their over-priced on technicians. We finally found a very knowledgeable repairman, and he could've fixed it, but he had the same problem. Samsung would not give him the technical details he would need to fix the fridge. He could've done it for $1000, but Samsung would've charged $3000. So we need to buy a new fridge. This repairman told us to just stay away from anything non-US made, except Bosch. So buyer beware. ... show more

  • Not what I expected
This is a good looking appliance. However it has SO many short comings. First off is the thin plastic film it comes wrapped in. It is next to impossible to get it all removed without leading very small but visible shreds left in the seams. The interior lighting seems to be an afterthought. It leaves items on the rear of the shelf's in the dark. The lighting for the water / ice dispenser is a total joke. It is so dull and poorly placed that it serves no purpose. The water dispenser is very far forward, so it is extremely easy to miss the container, (glass or water bottle etc.), when filling, and water goes all over the front and on the floor. The documentation that comes with the unit is very poorly written and incomplete. Operating the "Family Hub" is quite confusing and difficult. Don't even try to sync with the "smarthings" app. It won't work. You have to be using OLD technology, (2.4 ghz wifi), to get it to sync, so in order to do that in more advanced systems you almost have to set your network to only 2.4 ghz., if it's a normal automatic, (5ghz), system. I spent almost 20K on Samsung appliances, and they are all full of these same type issues. I had top of the line Kenmore and GE appliances previously, and they were very good and had none of these issues. Yep, I should have stayed with them... ... show more
