  • Wow... It's so nice. Samsung 57 + Linux
Size: 57-inch Style: QLED Neo G9 Set: Curved 240Hz
My old widescreen crapped out so I needed another one. My old one started flickering AFTER black Friday and Cyber Monday... So turns out it was still on sale for the same price. This monitor is huge and amazing. I use it for work mostly with my laptop (which does do the full resolution though the hdmi. I use the PIP with KVM to show on screen my personal PC for youtube or looking up stuff NOT on my work PC. I tried it some with my gaming PC from Lenovo i9 RTX 4080 Super and I would get about 180 FPS in COD with medium settings. I use Zorin OS (Linux) for my personal PC and it's also an i9 3090 and it also does the full resolution and works GREAT! The monitor: It is huge. Picture is best I have seen and near oled quality. I like the simple controls and easy setup. I got a desk arm ULTRARM MA20P-S and it works great. I was a bit worried it would not hold it up, but this arm is great quality. The stand for the 57 is nice but the legs are so long... I almost kept it on the stand it came with but figured I would try the arm and it works great. For 1600 you can't go wrong with this monitor. Side note: It does take some time to get used to, even coming from another ultrawide. Figuring out where to put things on the screen and how to layout for best work use. But all in all, I love it. Using the PIP for my personal PC saves me another monitor, however I do still need to use one other monitor because I always leave teams and outlook up on the side. I would buy this one again, without blinking. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Excellent Monitor Once Your Eyes Get Used to the Curve
Size: 32-inch Style: QLED Neo G8 Set: Curved 240Hz
I upgraded from the 4K LG 27GN950-B UltraGear Gaming Monitor 27” UHD to this 4K Neo G8 curved monitor because of the 240Hz refresh rate and the numerous superlatives doled out to it by tech magazines and websites. I also wanted to maximize my Nvidia RTX 4090 card with one of the best rated monitors out there. So, let's get the worrisome part out of the way first: if you aren't used to curved monitors (I wasn't) then, as many reviewers noted, it will take your eyes some time to get used to the curvature and how the images actually move on screen. For me, that time period lasted about two weeks, and I was really on the fence about this monitor during that timeframe. Once acclimated though, I finally got used to the tunneling effect where the image forces your eyes to focus on the center of the screen (kind of like when you are driving at night), and processes peripheral images still very distinctly but similar to your own vision with a slight wrapping effect at the edges. The second issue I think many new users confront is actually adjusting the image settings to get the quality you prefer rather than one that's set as the default. For me, that means my video card can easily handle the 240Hz refresh rate (other cards may not) without screen flashing, tearing, or image ghosting, but the colors are far too saturated and actually are overwhelming on any of the presets. I had to adjust the color settings to the old sRGB standard rather than one of the presets (e.g., FPS, RPG, Cinema, etc.). The color tone is simply warmer and more natural with that sRGB setting and with the Contrast Enhancer On and the Brightness dimmed about 10%. As a first step, I recommend you adjust your own settings to your preferences and also factor an image that reduces strain on the eyes. On that note of eye strain, I would also recommend some decent blue light glasses for extended play or viewing sessions. Just like with my aforementioned comparison with night driving, your eyes really do lock in a bit more for an immersive experience and you need to ensure you don't overdo it, especially initially if you aren't used to this type of monitor. Some users may notice initial motion sickness for specific games like FPSs or first-person RPGs, but I found that goes away with the right settings, some judicious gaming time limits (or blue light glasses for extended use), and the natural adjustment by your eyes to the curved display. But, once you hit that sweet spot for settings, this monitor is excellent for picture quality and overall viewing. My old LG pales in comparison, though it still remains a good monitor. For anyone on the fence about the curved display, go to your local brick and mortar store that sells these and check them out in-person first. If you think you can adapt and you have the video card to power this monitor at the 240Hz refresh rate, then it's an easy recommendation. If not, the Neo G7 has a flat monitor option at 144Hz that would likely be an upgrade from the LG as well. With whatever monitor you settle on, always adjust the settings to your preferences as a first step, rather than force your eyes to adjust to a default setting or otherwise unnatural image quality in terms of light intensity. warmth, or color oversaturation. ... show more

  • Outstanding Monitor, Amazing Picture, Would Have Returned If Not For 3rd Party Software
Size: 32-inch Style: OLED G8 Set: Flat 240Hz
TLDR; Intentional stupid interface decision would have made me return it if not for 3rd party software. Great monitor otherwise. Let’s start with why the 1 star. One of the dumbest choices I have ever seen in software and this was an active choice. Whenever the monitor wakes up, WHENEVER, you get the game bar popup. The first picture. That stays on the screen for 5 to 10 seconds. Oh well annoying but whatever. But it goes away and then you get the second popup for another 10 seconds. A popup telling you how to bring the game bar up. Cool a reminder when you are new to the monitor, not bad. Except no, someone thought, they may forget, we need to pop this up EVERYTIME. I've also been through three firmware versions since I have had it and it hasn't changed. So, every time your monitor wakes you either wait 20 seconds with junk on your screen or you have to get the remote and press back twice. Trash design. I would have started the return the same day because of the only problem I have found the monitor and it was an intentional choice. The only reason I didn't was because I found a fix. You either buy a service remote or you use a free third-party app (ColorControl) to access the service menu and turn off that popup. If you have made it this far, I love the monitor otherwise, I would have given it a 5/5, great picture and everything, a massive step up from my old LCD. I do dislike that it is more smart TV than monitor (I don't need all the IoT things on a computer monitor), but I knew what I was buying into with Samsung.
