🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Alienware OLED monitor is receiving rave reviews for its stunning picture quality, thanks to the combination of quantum dot technology and OLED. Users rave about the excellent color accuracy, high refresh rate, and outstanding motion handling. Despite few minor issues such as slight text fringing from a close distance and concerns of possible future burn-in, overall, the monitor's performance appears to exceed expectations, particularly for individuals needing a larger field of view or dealing with specific visual issues.

Pros

  • 🌈 Exceptional color accuracy and range, enhanced by quantum dot technology.
  • 🎮 Performs excellently in gaming scenarios with G-Sync and a good refresh rate.
  • 🌚 High contrast ratio thanks to OLED, providing true blacks.
  • 👁 Particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from certain visual issues.

Cons

  • 📝 Text fringing can be noticed when viewed too close.
  • 🕹 HDMI ports are only version 2.0, not 2.1, restricting higher refresh rates through HDMI connection.
  • 😰 Potential for OLED burn-in over time, though there are mitigating features and a 3-year warranty.
  • 💿 Eco Mode currently reported as glitchy, causing various issues.

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a visually stunning, future-proof monitor ideal for gaming and other high-quality visual content, the Alienware OLED monitor is a worthwhile investment. Despite certain concerns around text fringing and potential for burn-in over time, the monitor's exceptional performance and features appear to outweigh its downsides, offering excellent value for its price.

  • Worth 6 stars...the BEST 27" monitor under $350
Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 165 Hz Style: AW2724DM
Apparently there is a new line of Alienware monitors that will be released next month, and there are now DEEP discounts on this fantastic monitor-which can be had for under $200. Wal-Mart is selling the same monitor for close to $350-and it is worth every penny of that price-but at under $200, this is as close to a steal as you are going to get. The display is bright and very sharp. Important to me is that the stand is very adjustable allowing easy swivel and tilt-in addition to raising the height. Other monitors have fixed heights which may preclude them from being used in tight spaces-such as mine, as can be seen in the picture. The only 'downside' is that at native resolution (2560x1440) the icons and font size shrinks compared to a 24 inch monitor with a lower resolution. This is easily fixed in settings, but at the same time it is nice to be able to have panoramic views of wide spreadsheets etc. ... show more

  • Great monitor, great deal
Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 165 Hz Style: AW2724DM
Great monitor for the price. I have not used it for gaming, only as an extra monitor for work. Clear picture, great colors, nice customization features in the menu. Plus I got a sticker!!! Perfect size and worked well with my existing monitor arm. Would definitely buy another one if I had the money. It was a steal for $179. Might not be an OLED monitor, but it has all the things I need and a 3 year warranty. ... show more

  • It's Alienware alright - First Contact may or may not go well!
Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 165 Hz Style: AW2724DM
No support from Dell thus far. HDR Mode on this monitor causes issues with mouse skipping and lagging and display colors go from normal to dim, while moving the mouse over things. When I shut HDR mode off no issues. Other issues are pixels get stuck and appear from time to time on the screen in green. Running the monitor stock 165hz Update I do not want to overclock my monitor but in HDR at 180hz testing this morning has revealed no mouse skipping or lagging and the display colors are not going from normal to dim. No ghosting, very little glare, The brightness and colors jump out at you. You shouldn't have to OC your monitor for it to run properly. Pixels get stuck and appear from time to time on the screen in green. Running the monitor at either speed. I'm looking for function and longevity, and based on that alone, I'm more than likely returning this monitor. Waiting to hear from dell. HDR Mode 728 nits Alienware Color Profile Display HDR 600 Processor : AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor Memory : 32688MB(4000) Mother Board : X570 AORUS ELITE WIFI Windows Version : Microsoft Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Installation Date : 2024-09-01 Monitor : Alienware AW2724DM(DisplayPort1 HDR) Video Adapter : AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT Mouse : HID-compliant mouse I canceled my Amazon return. Dell also responded. I can RMA the monitor at anytime. I canceled the RMA with Dell too. On 9/5/24 I thought maybe I won't have any more issues after running their LCD conditioning tool. Update - 9/24/2024; When this Alienware landed, first contact was complicated and it took some learning curves but with patience and perseverance, there no longer seems to be any major issues. The testing to get this monitor working better took extremely long. Sometimes pairing things doesn’t always go as expected. This monitor didn’t pair well with my pc hardware and software at first. Software and hardware conflicts can arise. If you get abducted by Alienware be sure to remember and trace all of your steps for process of elimination to find the cause/causes of your problem. Yesterday, I installed this monitors 2nd firmware update and only minor issues. I have it running at stock settings in HDR mode. The colors and performance are extraordinary! no dimming, no mouse skipping. 9/27/24 Stuck pixels are still an issue and I don't know why. Pixels only get stuck during editing pictures or video now. I'm hoping the issue clears up. I haven't seen them on my regular desktop screen like before. I didn't return or exchange this monitor but, I might have to in the near future. It's luck of the draw. I read other reviews and some people have no issues at all. Why couldn't it be me, lol 10/13/2024 Windows 11 Pro 24H2 Update Still having minor issues with monitor. To clear up issues turn on overclocking mode in your monitor settings. Set to 170Hz or180Hz then set your refresh rate to 165Hz. That is the only way to clear up any mouse skipping or stuck pixel issues. Running at 165Hz without OC mode on, you can run into issues. 2/3/2025 For Samsung S24 Ultra users: Dex on this monitor is incredible! First you will need the UNI USB C to HDMI 2.1 cable for your Alienware monitor. Let me say if you use Good Lock and MultiStar with dex you can lock in that high resolution you're looking for above 60hz/60fps with multi window support. • Dead pixel and Non Existent Customer Support
Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 165 Hz Style: AW2724DM
After reading all the other reviews I knew I'd have a high chance to have a dead pixel or some other defect. Unfortunately I was right and my monitor has a bad pixel.. I bought 2 of these for prime day, the other monitor seems fine. Also HDR seems borderline unusable as a graphic designer since it desaturates all colors Edit 7/24/2024: Alienware doesn't have any customer support through Amazon so your only real option is to deal with Amazon customer support. I contacted them due to the defective monitor with a dead pixel and they told me to "just get a refund and purchase the monitor again." Which means I'll have to pay the difference of the prime day discount I received. I was able to convince them to imitate a replacement which was supposed to arrive 2 days ago after initiating the replacement 5 days ago. The date I'm supposed to get the monitor changed twice and now if I don't get it by tomorrow they'll "refund" my replacement whatever that means. I knew Alienware products were extremely risky due to the defective issues bad QA but didn't think it'd be this bad. There's a Samsung alternative to this monitor that's also cheaper for the same specs. Don't get any of these monitors unless you want to do a run around with refunds, replacements, defective products. Edit 7/31/2024: My replacement monitor never arrived and decided not to do a return as I've been seeing a lot of people having issues with the refunds. As I spend more time with these 2 monitors I've been noticing more issues, both monitors constantly flicker which can get pretty nauseating. The monitors have a very inconsistent color range too. I honestly regret getting these 2 monitors and will never purchase from Alienware again and will be the last time I purchase something expensive through Amazon. ... show more
