  • This has got to be the most underrated DAW!
First thing to mention: The software comes on DVD, but there's a download link as well if you don't have an optical drive. It's 2023, most of my computers no longer have optical readers! I'd heard a lot about Samplitude, especially their X Pro versions, but I always thought the "music studio" was a watered down loop machine. Boy WAS I WRONG. This software is incredible! I dabble in music sometimes to go along with a production I'm working on, starting with Cakewalk and working my way up into bigger software- I was not expecting all of these features to be present on such affordable package! It comes with an incredible selection of VSTs and plugins that you can select and download upon first launch, and even has AUTOTUNE (or as Magix calls it, Vocal Tune 2) for fixing recordings on those of us with less than perfect pitch. In fact, I'm still trying to find a feature it DOESN'T have that I'd want on the more expensive software. Ok, I have to admit I'm a fan of Magix ever since they bought Sony Creative Software's Vegas for video editing and kept it alive. Now they have earned my respect yet again. If you're dabbling in music and want a good user-friendly place to start, I can't recommend Samplitude enough. It might actually be all you ever need. Get it! ... show more

  • Do not purchase the CD version.
I have used the product with great success for several years. It is a quality program. However, the CD version purchased recently, has useless product activation information which renders the program totally unusable. I am exploring any procedure to rectify the situation. None have provided any except a dead end loop and frustration. ... show more

  • Capable DAW. Great MIDI support. Oddly retro.
I've used Propeller Heads Reason and Reaper for years. I've heard good things about Samplitude and its friendly approach to MIDI. The first impression: the order was filled quickly by Amazon in just a day. The software came in a cardboard folder with a DVD and a code card. I began installing it from the DVD. Honestly, it felt like an installation from the 1990s. The DVD fought with the security software on my windows laptop. I discovered that there is a more modern download option. The installation first asks you to build a login to the Magix Site, and then add in your code. They then email you your serial number. The install challenges you for a serial number and then begins installing the DAW. The second round of installation then goes back and discovers extensions and VSTs are missing, and offers to download and install the missing bits. Once installed the User Interface is quite familiar. It treats content that is created in ways that are similar to Reason, and less like Reaper. Everything is an object, and objects may be moved around from project to project. The user interface is less flexible than Reaper, and therefore easier to navigate. It would be challenging to build a comfortable workflow for Voice Over work. For that kind of work, you have to create content and immediately edit and master- boom, boom, boom. Samplitude feels like it's built to create content as a first priority, editing is accessible from the content creation screens and it's fine. But mastering feels like an afterthought. In this regard, it's more like Reason. Reaper is complicated, but it can be set upf for rapid workflows if you want. Working with Keyboards, automating guitar pedals, and controlling external drum machines is quite straightforward with Samplitude. Again, it feels like Samplitude is designed with capturing performance. Maybe even better than Reason for MIDI. I'm still learning this DAW. I'll probably stick with Reason for Voice-Over work. But Samplitude may replace my very expensive investments in Propellerheads Reason. I like Reason, but Samplitude is a capable alternative for my solo music production projects. I hope this review helps. ... show more

  • Installation is a breeze. Software is feature rich, yet not too complicated to understand.
Reviewing: "SAMPLITUDE Music Studio 2023 - The complete studio for composing, recording, mixing and mastering | Audio Software | Music Program | Windows 10/11 PC | 1 license" I ordered this because I wanted to learn how to arrange and mix music and audio tracks as a hobby. The last time I played with something like this was in the 90s with Cakewalk, which I didn't enjoy, and it kind of turned me off of the hobby. (I probably had different expectations, having come from the old school music world of staff paper and a pen. But I am old, and old-fashioned. And I digress.) Fast-forward to now. It continues to be amazing and fantastic what's available in these times, thanks to innovation. I've only played with this a little bit so far, but it seems vastly more intuitive and easier to learn. I'm sure I will have no problems getting the hang of it. And these days, if I have questions, there's almost always a video to be found. For the price, I think this is an excellent value. I'm glad I could try out this software, and I look forward to using it more in my spare time! ... show more

  • Great DAW Software for the Price
I had been using another product that is no longer supported by the manufacturer so I was eager to give this DAW a try. Please keep in mind that my use cases are pretty limited to recording guitars and some drums on rare occasions. For both these use cases, this DAW was very intuitive and very easy to use. MIDI support for electronic drums is a great feature. VST plugins are easy to import and inject into the session. I would recommend this to all beginner/intermediate users such as myself. I sincerely hope that you would find my review helpful. ... show more
