Did not expect cardboard shelves. Worse was that side panels were slightly bent such that the cardboard shelves we not long enough to fit securely into the designated slots. as a result most slot could not hold the weight of more than 10 sheets of paper. There was no back board so the whole thing was wobbly and needed to be put against a wall to keep it from collapsing. One of the dowels was glued in crooked so I had to break if off to get the top board on. If you push the top and bottom board down completely the dowels will break out of the top of the board. I have a smaller unit by the same company, its not fancy but I'm satisfied with its performance this larger unit is complete garbage which essentially where the product will go after it is returned. ... show more

I'm so surprised by the negative reviews. Yes, it's expensive and made of particle board/cardboard, but I've used mine for two years and have had no issues with it. I have 20+ 8 year olds putting mail in and pulling mail out on a daily basis and it's still as sturdy as day one. My students are fairly rough with it and there's no damage or signs of use at all. I also have to move it every summer and you can't tell. I actually came back to purchase a second one for my classroom, but decided against it only because I'm on a teacher's budget. If it wasn't for my budget, I'd be buying another one. ... show more

I bought this item for my pre-K classroom. Each box is assigned to one of my students. I put this item in our writing center so that the children can write letter to “mail” them to their classmates. It has been a great way to build community in my classroom! One thing that I didn’t realize before purchasing this item was the material of the shelves. I thought the whole shelf was made of wood, however the shelves are actually made out of cardboard. So, just be aware of the material to make sure it’s why you are looking for. Purchased the 24 slot, no problem. Purchased the 36 slot: cardboard shelves were short on each end on most of the shelves, thus falling off the groove on each side. Called customer service. They send me another free of charge. . Same thing, only this time, (worse) when putting pegs into the sides, the pegs that hold it together were either not able to go far into the hole (it wasn't drilled in deep enough by the mfg; or it went in too deep and came out the other side!!!! Meaning the top and bottom of the unit now has a broken laminate all the way across where the pegs came through to hold the unit together. Its an attractive unit, but architecturally, it is not made to fit together well. Back on the phone with customer service......its a lot of money to have this to be semi- non functional (meaning only able to use a few slots of 36!!), as well as now it LOOKS bad because of the pegs that came through the top and bottom and cracked the laminate. ... show more
