  • STALKER will scare you with surround sound
After playing the demo, i had so much fun with this game, bought it worth every penny i put into it, but with so many bugs you most definatly must add all major patches before playing the game, but dont blame the game blame the sorry game testers for rushing their job, the game, the gameplay and graphics are great, only for pc only for desktops, i played for hours and hours and couldnt stop playing i played on the hardest setting and did everything in the game and tooks months to find all secrets, this game will keep you busy for months, though if your not a hardcore gamer this game isnt for you, maybe they should mix fallout3 and stalker together to make a ultimate stalker and fallout together. i recommend this game to the heart of gamers, if you enjoy being scared like the good old days when resident evil came out on playstation you will not be disapointed with this game, this game will scare you and surprise you tons of times, zombies, zombie animals etc. the game was a blast for me thanks amazon cant wait for the next stalker release. ... show more

  • Best find in since the original Far Cry!
I had been reading the reviews for a couple of months before I spent the money to buy it. It cost about 20 bucks and I thought, I could try it out for that. I loaded it up and didn't install any of the patches before I tried it out. Maxed out my graphics and play for some time. I didn't realize that there was no autosave and I had to replay the intro several times before I figured out that this is not a guns-blazing type of game! I finally saved it manually and then applied the patches to the most updated version. Save not compatible with update and I had to sit through the into...again. Finally an autosave feature! BUT, only when you cross between maps. There are still some minor crashes after a couple of hours of playing. I blame it on Vista's poor performance as other games have the same issue regardless of 4 gigs of RAM. Best part though is the autosave completes first before the crash. The updates helped with some bugs but there are still some minor annoyances like the military outpost respawning when you come back from the swamps. I played the original Far Cry through several times and installed every mod available to keep playing it. This game is much more! This requires strategy and many hours of walking between points to earn funds to upgrade and repair your equipment. The manual is not very helpful and there are no hints to be found online. It took some time to get used to the tasks and how to walk to different areas. Straight-lines will get you killed! The graphics are amazing and the environment is very detailed. Even drinking the vodka will give you an intoxicated point of view! This game is definitely in my top five of all-time favorites. You can breeze through it faster if you avoid all of the tasks and stick to your guns - literally. What's the point though? With the graphics, the changing environment and the interesting Russian commentary, be prepared to be entertained! ... show more

  • Game works but check your hardware
The game's DRM scheme didn't let me play it with my DVD drive. My computer rig uses an external DVD drive via USB rather than internal drives. So it must have thought my game was a forgery and wouldn't start playing. Luckily, I contacted their excellent customer support, and they helped me out, sorta. Basically the solution was to change DVD drives. Which DID work, but only because I had an extra drive. How many people have extra drives just sitting around that they can plug-in? Anyway, the game works so far. But it's picky and takes a good minute before launching while it figures out if my version is "legit" or not. It might be better to just go with the download version than the DVD disc if the antipiracy features are going to be this particular in games. I can't change my star rating, since this is an edit. So I guess it still gets a 1, but that's largely due to the DRM scheme here. The game itself appears to be running fine, so far, I've barely cracked the surface. ... show more

  • Stalker!!!!!!!! rocks.
I absolutely love the stalker games I now have all three of them, I heard they are making a Stalker 2...which means they will have four games in the franchise, these games are hard and keeps you interested, now like the new shoot em up games, with no plot, all the stalker games have the main mission, but have a lot of side missions......I have this on windows8 16gig ram, NVidia GeForce 4gig video card and 4 terabyte of memory...alien ware desktop with liquid cooled tower, I also have an emulator program to play xbox, ps2..3 games. So dumb to buy a game console when you8 can do this I am future proofed for now with this computer. ... show more
