  • Works for thick hard-to-squeeze caulk
I use it for polypropylene caulk, which is very good caulk, but very hard to squeeze out of the tube. This caulk gun works nice, and the battery lasts a long time

  • The Right Tool for the Job!
I bought this for two reasons. 1. I have no hand strength anymore and a manual gun is out of the question. 2. It works with the same battery as my drill and circular saw. Talk about the right tool for the job! Wow, was it ever easy to caulk all my windows in just a few hours. Here's a couple comments that might help. They may seem basic, but they are important. 1. Buy an extra tube of caulk and practice on a piece of cardboard. Narrow is narrow and wide is REALLY wide. The wider the flow, the faster you have to move. 2. Remember, you can always add more but you can't get it back in the tube if you goof up. 3. Do NOT cut the tip of the caulk tube really wide. Between 1/8 and 1/4 works well. Cut it at a 45deg angle to help with smoothing. 4. The puncture rod is really helpful. Punch the inner seal in the tube multiple times. If you don't, the gun WILL explode the tube and that's a real mess. ... show more

  • good quality
I have many Ryobi tools and like them this caulking gun works great after a learning curve on what speed to set it at when in use.

  • Works well for big jobs, not enough control for little ones
As a person with arthritis AND small hands, I love this tool! It's portable and easy to use, and is great for large caulk jobs, especially ones with heavy caulk, like putting sanded caulk in a cracked block wall. I gave it four stars for two reasons: first, it can be hard to control. Even when you dial it all the way down and keep the hole in the caulk tube small, you cannot control it well enough to do a good looking visible bead. Second, it is prone to blow out the end of the caulk tube, which gets a mess all over the push-rod end. It is difficult to clean up as there are then many nooks and crannies filled with caulk. I finally resorted to putting plastic newspaper bags over the push-rod so that the rod is completely protected as it moves up the caulk tube. When caulk squeezes out the back it is encased in the bag and I can just throw the whole business away without spending 30 minutes on clean-up. ... show more

  • Great for consumers
This is the best value for any consumer who does not use it a lot. If you have Ryobi brands that already have a battery I would say this is a better but that a manual gun just because you already own a battery and the functionality is great.

  • Who would be so lazy they need one of these.... ME!
I am just a Do It Yourself person and buy tools randomly to help out on projects. Not long before I purchased this item I saw it in the store and wondered, who would be so lazy and use one of these. Well I helped on a project which needed mortar repaired on a brick house. I crushed the handle on two caulk guns and stripped the plunger rod on another (pretty much more than half the cost of this tool destoried). I was not even done with half a tube! Well I went online to get this tool. To say the least it was a beast and did the job. There is a newer model people like. This was cheaper and I could get it fast. It took a little bit of time to learn a few tricks with this, but it did not take long. For an electric caulk gun, I would go with this and get the batteries. I already had batteries since I already had 3 tools and the caulk gun did not even use 25% of the power going through 8 tubes. ... show more

  • Start on SLOW SPEED!
First, let me say that if you plan on caulking something like an 1/8 inch gap 3/4 inch deep, then start out on the SLOWEST speed/feed setting. I progressively trimmed each caulking tube spout closer to the end. This was to try to limit the amount of overfill/waste. On my third tube I noticed that the tube didn't go as far and, you guessed it, the caulking had been forced backwards, making quite the mess. I pulled the battery! Figured by even CAREFULLY spraying the fresh caulk off and out of the worst places that I was chancing ruining the tool. Took it apart, wiping and letting it drain the water that INADVERTENTLY got in the case. Next morning and I have carefully replaced the right screws in the correct holes, battery loaded, and it seems to be working normally. Works fine but I have caused my own delay on the job. Thought someone could save themselves the aggravation... Otherwise this tool is terrific. Great battery life. Would recommend it highly to a friend. ... show more

  • The best caulking gun I have ever owned
The best caulking gun I have ever owned. With my wife and daughter's help I am building a house in a remote area of Alaska. My 15 year old 95 pound daughter was having a hard time getting liquid nails(Glue) out of the regular old fashioned squeeze type caulking gun so I bought this to see if it would help. I do not think I will ever be able to get this from her. She loves it. It works very easy. Just squeeze the trigger and the glue/caulk comes out. It has a variable speed setting so that you can put down a lot or a little. I do not write many reviews, but when I do it is either very good or very bad. This is easily worth your money. On a side note I have had very good luck with the Ryobi 18v Cordless Drill as well. ... show more
