  • Consistency!
This is a nice tool that helps lay out framing with great consistency. Certainly you can do it by hand without something like this, but having a jig makes the work very fast which I think is really the point of this tool. It also ensures consistency. The tool works for 16 and 24" centers. It only does studs that fall on those measurements. If you have to go off centers to set kings/jacks/trimmers you're going to have to do that without the jig. Of course it also doesn't work at the end of the wall if it lands short/long. This thing lets you blast out a bunch of studs on regular layout fast though. ... show more

  • HUGE time-saver!
This framing jig is a super tool to have if you do a lot of framing. It adjusts from 16" to 24" centers, which is great, but the ball-bearing that locks it into position is small and not so easy to depress in order to make the spacing adjustment. Other than that, it's well built and should last a lifetime. I'm getting ready to do a large job, and this will save me a LOT of time by not having to measure and mark each stud location along each wall I'm building. ... show more

  • makes framing really straightforward
I used these to basically create sideways wall frames to build a short wall around my back porch. Doing it this way made it so I could make sure the entire wall was uniform in height, while the width between posts was my variable in each frame. I did two 24" gaps for the height so the whole porch wall perfectly even. This is definitely for DIY projects like what I just described, or even if you are an independent contractor and wanna boost your productivity or ability to bid on larger projects that you might have thought were just beyond reach. ... show more

  • Perfect Alignment
I am currently constructing an out building and needed to use this the day it arrived. It aligns to 16 inches and 24 inches perfectly. There are gaps in the right spots show you can nail or screw in the studs without it getting in the way. It's lightweight and locks into either of those two positions. For 16 inch and 24 inch stud divider placement, this works perfectly. Once you get the first stud lined up, the rest of them are an easy setup on the top and bottom of a wall frame. Especially when you have one end done and are working alone and need to align the top end of the wall, this aligns it just right and speeds everything up. I definitely recommend it, especially for the at home worker, but it can be used by anyone doing construction. ... show more

  • Too loose to hold lumber in place
The media could not be loaded. I had hoped this tool would hold my lumber in place while I screwed it together. Unfortunately, the hold is so loose that the lumber can move around and twist as you are applying screws, compromising square. I had also hoped it would be more adjustable for furniture-making dimensions but it only has two preset lengths: 16" and 24". It may make MARKING studs for 16" and 24" intervals easier. But doesn't seem worth the price just for that. ... show more

  • It functions…..with effort
The tool is constructed as described. It has a hefty build from stainless steel. It should be resistant to rust or corrosion. There are two button stops attached to an internal “spring” made from a bent metal strip.. These are pressed to allow adjustment to either 16 or 24 inch reference lengths. The manufacturer description provides a “tip” advising to “wiggle" the tool while pressing down on the small buttons to manage the adjustment. Upon first use, the internal metal strip/spring displaced and I had to reassemble the tool and start over. it takes some dexterity and effort to employ this mechanism and arrive at the needed measurement point. Fortunately this process isn’t something that the user would have to do often or quickly with only two measurements available. However it does make the tool less convenient to use. I did not find distortion in the ends of the tool, as it did hold wood securely and the measurement was accurate. Usefulness will vary per user. Once I established the 16” dimension, I completed some framing with confidence that I was not making any measurement errors. ... show more

  • OK
This is accurate but the ends are flared out slightly. That was an easy fix by bending the ends inward until it firmly locates the studs. It's only good for building your walls on the floor first. It's a decent tool for the price point. I'm using it while I am building a new garage at this time.

  • Absolutely adore!!
As a home DIY'er who just moved into a new house, I spent yesterday demo'ing my master closet and rebuilding it into my dream closet and this thing came in extremely handy!! It was super easy to use. I only wish it had the ability to adjust to more sizes than just 16 & 24". I mean, I get that it's for building walls, but I used it on a smaller scale and that would have been handy. But that's okay. I know I'll get a lot of use out of it. It's heavy-duty and well-built. Highly-recommend! ... show more
