  • Undecided due to defective cable - will update when resolved by RUIPRO
Size: 8K_Fiber 10FT Color: 8K Fiber
Like many, I use an LG OLED (C2 42") as my PC monitor, using it's full 120Hz refresh rate with HDR and Gsync (Nvidia) active. I've been through several so called 'certified' cables from other sellers, only to be disappointed with spotty connections/screen artifacts - it's very true that the vast majority of the HDMI 2.1 cables being sold will not work for those who seek to use a PC GPU to push a screen image that uses the full feature set offered by the HDMI 2.1 format. I'm sure those playing games at 60hz do not have these problems as they are not using the full bandwidth of the HDMI 2.1 format, and I suspect that's why many much cheaper cables get the great reviews they do. Initially the RUIPRO 8K (10ft - this was the really surprising part as it's usually at much longer cable lengths such issues arise) had no signal, so I used the provided 'USB 5V power adapter' that acts as a bridge between the RUIPRO and the GPU, providing additional power from one of your PC's USB ports. This worked, but then I read another Amazon customer review where it would seem that RUIPRO customer service seemed to indicate that the use of this optional USB 5V adapter was "prohibited" for use with GPU's. The customer quite rightly assumed this meant the adapter may have the potential to cause damage to a PC GPU and asked RUIPRO for full clarification, which was never received. Update: RUIPRO stated that the 5V power adapter will NOT harm my GPU (RTX 4090), mentioning that there's also no need for it as modern GPU's are highly powered (true), and that in their opinion the problem is a faulty cable. I am more inclined to align to this viewpoint now that the cable has begun to deteriorate even further, losing the signal completely, and refusing to show anything, regardless of whether the 5V adapter was used or not. Perhaps this cable was a 'dud' all along and was just going through it's 'death throws'. The reason they say why they go to the trouble of sending replacement cables directly from their factory in China is that they have the cable certified as fully operational by one of their engineers, who takes the time to test it with similar hardware. This seems like a very thorough process, however I am curious as to whether the same thing could likely have been achieved by just sending the defective one back to Amazon and requesting a replacement, since this specific cable option (Gen 3/C) is advertised as being compatible with all recent RTX GPU's. I am very curious to see if the cable currently in transit from China is any different from the defective one in terms of 'Gen' or other changes/updates to their cables, and hope it resolves what has been a trying period. Coming from using only dedicated PC monitors (not TV's) that prefer DisplayPort cables, using HDMI 2.1 has been a rough introduction, but I do feel that I have just been unlucky and that things will be fine when I receive the replacement cable. I am updating my review (plus one star) to reflect RUIPRO's willingness to work with their customers and answer questions. I have read from other customers that they have a track record of solid customer service and will warranty the cable for life if it's a defective cable, and this is a big deal with the market flooded with mostly 'very average' generic cables promising to do a lot of things they end up failing to do. The HDMI 2.1 standard still seems like it's in it's infancy with regard to reliability over the usual 3-6ft distances, something that will hopefully improve over time, because the LG C2 OLED 'Evo' 42" TV is the best computer 'monitor' I have owned, and if it weren't for these issues, I could never imagine going back to my 3440x1440p ultrawide for daily use and gaming purposes. There's just no going back after using 4K OLED, and on the dedicated PC side, prices are still VERY high in comparison. Fingers crossed this new cable resolves, if it does I will update my review again to reflect a 5 star rating. ... show more

  • Fixed my video problems
Size: 8K_Fiber 33FT Color: 8K Fiber
To begin, if you are looking for an HDMI cable for runs of greater than 15-20 feet, don't want to do HDMI over ethernet, and want a great picture on your HDTV, then look no further than the RUIPRO 8K active hybrid fiber optic HDMI cable. After inadvertently damaging my older 25 foot copper HDMI cables that I thought was giving me a great picture on my 75 inch Samsung Q80TA, I researched new cables and decided on the 10 meter RUIPRO 4K/60 Hz (You read right; the 4K cable). The quality of the materials was first class. (Don't be swayed by reviewers who think that a thin cable is a cheap poorly made cable!!) When I tried to set up the cable with my DirecTV 4K Genie receiver, I was unable to get support for 1080p and 4K resolutions. I tried the usual suggestions such as unplugging the cables and the TV and restarting everything. That did not solve the issue. I contacted RUIPRO and they sent me another cable. Same results. I contacted DirecTV and Samsung without any help. They seemed totally clueless about these types of cables! No one, not even RUIPRO, suggested that I try a USB power inserter. So I tried the cable with my OPPO BDP-205 UHD disc player and it would not play 4K discs. I made some changes in the OPPO's video menu with resolutions and that solved the issue there. (I did eventually use a USB power inserter with the 4K cable going from my UHD player to the TV with a visible modest improvement in picture quality to my eyes.) I made the decision to go whole hog and buy the RUIPRO 10 meter 8K active hybrid fiber optic HDMI cable. Same excellent construction although the 8K cable was a little thicker than the 4K version. Same problem with resolutions. But then I used the included USB power inserter and everything changed. Now I had all 4 resolutions with the Genie, including1080p and 4K. And I was looking at the most incredibly clear lifelike picture with never before seen nuances of color and shading, especially with flesh tones. I was smitten. Now it is likely that I probably would have had the same experience with the 4K cable had someone recommended the USB power inserter (or if I had just considered buying it myself). I didn't care. I was using the 4k/60 Hz cable with my UHD disc player and now my satellite TV video performance had just gone up off the charts. I have not experienced a single video or audio dropout but it has been only about one month since I installed my cables. Now, this is young technology. I have read reviews where the performance seems to become erratic with time or that the cable just stops working altogether. There are active electronics involved and things can fail with time and need to be replaced. But my version of the RUIPRO 8K cable is a Gen 3 so maybe that portends success and reliability with time. But I am a very happy viewer for now and would recommend the RUIPRO brand without question. Their support is very good and attentive although I fail to see how they did not recommend the use of the USB power inserter right at the beginning of my query. Both active hybrid fiber optic HMDI cables and HDMI over ethernet are pricey ( I spent $175 for my two RUIPRO cables on Amazon. I would have spent nearly $500 dollars for two HDMI over internet systems for my needs.). But if it fits your needs, I would recommend that you try the fiber optic cables. Bear in mind that you need a very good source for your video signal. There is only so much that a good TV and an excellent cable can do with a mediocre source. I have had a very good experience with satellite for 23 years. I wish I could have had a long HDMI cable of such excellence back then!! ... show more

  • Test thoroughly before you bury the cable in the wall
Size: 8K_Fiber 65FT Color: 8K Fiber
After your using the cable for 3months between a PC and a Sony TV as a third monitor (4K@60), the audio went out. Messaged customer support and they promptly sent me a new cable. The new cable turned out to be bad. It would not allow resolution higher than 1920x1080 (Full HD). Messaged customer support and they promptly sent me another new cable, this time directly from their factory in China. Shipping was fast and it arrived in 5 days. The second new cable facilitated 4K res and passed audio properly, however it limited refresh rates to 30Hz. I tested the setup with a monoprice cable using the same HDMI ports on the PC and TV, and it worked smoothly at 4K@60 with no audio issues. This seems to indicate some quality control issues at RUIpro. I strongly suggest you buy a different brand. If you do end up with this cable, then test the cable thoroughly before burying it in the walls. EDIT 12/29/22: I added one star to the review, as their customer support is very prompt to answer questions. They also promptly refunded the full amount to me, as none of the cables they sent me worked. EDIT 1/5/23: Customer service sent a third new cable from their factory in China. I didn't even ask for it, but they wanted to ensure that I am satisfied with the product. The cable arrived promptly and my testing so far has been successful. No audio issues and higher 4K refresh rates are supported. I am bumping up the rating to 4 stars for the excellent follow up and customer service by Ruipro. Do I trust the cable...I dont know. Only time will tell. ... show more

Worked as expected: eARC + CEC @ 65'. Slight artifacts on screen while Sony monitor and receiver handshake, but solid after that.
