I took a chance with this product because I don't use a rug dr. machine. Our little dog had been going behind the sofa and in the living room to pee and poop. We had no clue. This smell was terrible so we knew she was doing something. I got one of those black lights and checked out our rug. it was disgusting. Yellow spots covered the entire floor. We used a regular cleaner for our machine. The floor looked good and things smelled better until the carpet dried. The yellow stains were still there under the light and the smell was unbearable. I researched a lot of products for this problem in particular. Reading the reviews there is always someone saying that the product did not work for them, whatever the product is. So, I took a chance and tried this rug dr. It not only got the yellow stains up, it took the smell out as well. We had stains there from dogs of years past too because there were definite male markings. We have not had a male dog in at least 20 years in this house. This product took care of all of it! No pee smell and now its been about a month. VERY pleased! The carpet looks like new too. No problems using it in our dirt devil machine. This worked for us! ... show more

Unfortunately my daughter several months ago snuck a kitten into the house. I did eventually find out but by the time I was able to get him neutered he had urinated all over the furniture, the carpet and he would jump up on the dirty laundry baskets and urinate all over the clothes. The stuff is extremely concentrated and works great. I put my washing machine on soak and I pour about a capful in. I leave it sitting overnight but all the stains and the odor are completely gone. Prior to purchasing this I had tried several other things including OxiClean. This absolutely worked the best and I highly recommend it for your laundry. ... show more

I have tried a few different products to use in my Hoover Steam Vac Carpet Cleaner over the past few years and nothing has worked as well as using this product with 3 oz per gallon of hot water. NO foaming at all, no heavy perfume smell, no sticky residue. Carpet came out cleaner, too. I do go over the area a few times, but I think that is pretty standard if you want a job well done for a home machine. If you are like me and have spent lots and lots of time reading people's reviews of products on Amazon just hoping, hoping, you might finally get just the right affordable product, this is it! Note: I think that using the hot water in the machine helps activate enzymes that eat at the pee bacteria. You may have a slight dog smell during the first day in areas that were the most affected, but give it another day and it should be really great. Then if you get and use the product because you read this review, please come back and comment, because I am really hoping this helps someone and I didn't lead you astray. This is my real experience and I hope it is for others, too. UPDATE: Downgraded to 4 stars because it did not deter my little beasties from peeing in same area again. This stuff is amazing! We have 2 puppies that we had to potty train and obviously they had accidents. I took my area rug outside and poured the carpet solution directly onto the worst parts and pressure washed and hung over the fence to air dry. IT LOOKS BRAND NEW!! This stuff is great! I’ve tried many different solutions trying to get some stubborn dog accidents out. I’ve got a Golden retriever, so the spots are not small by any means and smell terrible! I tried and tried over and over every day. Nothing worked and even smelled fresh after cleaning. I used this just once and the smell is GONE!
