  • Decent, but not as durable as U.S. issue field jacket
Size: 2X Color: Acu Digital Camo
This jacket fits just like my issue field jacket (I got my issue jacket in the 90s while serving as an FMF Corpsman in the US Navy), but this jacket's outer shell is very noticeably thinner than the issue jacket. Not only is it thinner, but it rips much more easily. While walking by a door one of my pockets to this jacket got caught on the knob of the door then ripped down one side of the pocket several inches. I've had the same thing happen to my issue field jacket once and instead of ripping the pocket held and actually stopped my body from moving. I've repaired the new jacket and I'll continue to wear it, but I will probably not get another one (and this one probably will not last the 10+ years that my issue jacket has). I will probably be shopping for an over engineered tactical jacket within a year... Kitanica is looking pretty good to me right now. ... show more

  • Good choice if you are looking for form; bad choice if you are looking for function
Size: Medium Color: Tiger Stripe Camo
Pros: (1) jacket is a "correct" pattern of tiger stripe, and is more subdued that "viet nam tiger stripe"; it looks like it is supposed to; (2) it comes with a removable button-in liner Cons, when compared to a USGI M65 in woodland pattern: (1) the sleeves are a bit too long, but if you have monkey arms, it may work for you; (2) the material is more rigid than USGI, but not as thick; (3) overall, jacket is lighter than USGI; (4) although the zipper appears to be heavy duty, it is gold color, so it sticks out; (5) the cut of the jacket is very generous; but if you are portly, it may work for you. My USGI in Med/Reg fits more snugly than this one, also in Med/Reg. Bottom line: if you are looking for a cool looking tiger stripe jacket, this one may work for you; however, if you are looking for something just like a USGI M65, this ain't it. ... show more

  • Does the job, doesn't feel authentic
Size: XX-Large Color: Woodland Camo
I did not serve so I can only draw conclusions from what I have been able to see/try in army surplus stores where they have authentic or used field jackets. This Jacket from Rothco is close but not quite. For what I need it for, much like Horse Shoes and Hand Grenades: Close is good enough. If you want a true authentic or closer to, you'll need to spend twice as much for Alpha Industries Field Jacket, or score a great deal on genuine issue surplus (Or used). Considering the real deal doesn't come in fat butt sizes (I'm in that category...I like to call it aerodynamic), Rothco or Alpha are likely your best bet. Small update: I did end up getting an Alpha Industries version of this jacket...far better than Rothco. After using the Rothco version for a bit, I can confidently say it has flaws and areas severely lacking in craftsmanship. There should be no reason to have to fix a pocket not sewn correctly...you know....to get rid of the hole that's not supposed to be there. Sooo...a bit less than close. ... show more

  • Rothco is Just A Name Now
Size: Medium Color: Tiger Stripe Camo
The seller was great. This complaint is not about the seller. The manufacturer, Rothco, is not its former self. The jacket felt too big and boxy. Okay, that can happen. I have owned genuine M65 jackets, as well as repros, replicas and ones made in the U.S. by Golden and in the past by Rothco. This one was a lower quality. Much worse, though, was that the velcro for the cuffs and the neck was totally useless. No human would be able to use the velcro on the neck closure. It was one little square placed so far away that you would have to have a neck the size of a squirrel's in order for it to work. This is just sloppy craftsmanship and zero quality control. I will not buy Rothco again. I do very few Amazon reviews, but I felt to write this one to save somebody the hassle of returning a jacket that doesn't work the way it's supposed to. ... show more

  • Close to the original but with thinner/cheaper materials.
Size: Large Color: Acu Digital Camo
I've owned an original Golden Mfg. M-65 since I was issued one in 2009. Mines still in usable condition to this day. Just needed to get a large due to my shoulders growing wider. It's a nice copy of the original. The materials are thinner and I worry about long term durability of the outer shell but I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt. As for the stitching, it's definitely not on the same level as Golden if we're talking about stitches per inch, but if the thread holds I'll be happy. The hood spandex material and lack of eyelets for the waist drawstring were the only major disappointments. I'll give an update on longevity come next year around Thanksgiving. ... show more

  • Great Digital Camo Jacket
Size: Large Color: Subdued Urban Digital Camo
I've been looking for an M-65 jacket for a while at a good price. Came across this one with a price cut. I usually wear an XL so i went down one size to a large and it fits great. The quality of this jacket looks good from what i can see. The zipper is nice and sturdy and smooth. For 50 bucks you can't go wrong. Get one of these before they're gone. ... show more

  • Hot and heavy and not in a good way...
Size: X-Large Color: Tiger Stripe Camo
I got this jacket as a light jacket for the fall. The jacket ended up being heavier than guilt. I felt like I was putting on chainmail. I will say that this jacket was very well made and seemed to be very durable according to the stitching. But it was extremely hot as well. I did like the the tiger stripe camo and I am glad that Rothco keeps it real. ... show more

  • Beware if you think you are getting a true military surplus quality jacket...
Size: Small Color: Woodland Camo
I admit that I tried to save a few bucks and get a "knock off" M-65 jacket to replace my original jacket that was 30+ years old. As soon as I put it on, I knew it wasn't the same. The pockets are not as deep as the original and the jacket is not very water repellent. The real kicker is that if you use the hood in the rain, you will quickly get soaked. The rain flap is poorly designed and is about 25% shorter than my original jacket. So instead of allowing the water to run over your neck and off the jacket, it funnels the water down your back. That just sucks. From this point on, I'll avoid any product made my Rothco. The Chinese make it cheap, but in the long run, it wasn't worth the price... ... show more
