Expandable to 3 bikes up to 45 lbs per tray, with Add-On Bike can be loaded asymmetrically to eliminate handlebar interference No contact with frame or fork, secures bicycle by contact with tires only Carries 19mm road tires up to 3.0” wide mountain bike tires, and diameters from 20” to 29” Compatible with bicycle wheelbases from 36” to 55” Folds flat against the vehicle, and tilts down 30 degrees to allow for hatch access Available for 1.25” and 2” Class II or higher hitch receivers Utilizes RockyMounts premium 3-axis anti wobble system Included 10mm square link chain provides best in class security Not for use with fender equipped bicycles Rack weight 49 lbs (shipping weight 61 lbs) Fit Memo- For cargo vans a fit check is required. • Great Rack That One Ups the Competition
I had KUAT and was considering the most popular option for tray racks that only contact wheels. However, after looking an all the reviews I could find I decided to go with the GuideRail 2. The deciding fact for me was the ability to operation the arms with one hand and the security chain. You can open up the locking mechanism on the arms and move the arms with one hand while holding on to you bike with the other. Once you get the back on the rack move the arms against the tires lock them back into the ratchet function then push to tighten. It's really really easy. The lock that comes with it is at least a $150 value. Look up the price of beefy chain locks and you will see what I mean. But this one locks directly into the rack which is great. I had two bikes on the rack and the chain secured them both while we at lunch. The stadium portion of the two trays make it easy to fit two bikes and you can move them back or forth to avoid handle bar to seat contact. No need to lower or raise you seat post. It's also really sturdy does not move at all. Easy installation as well. It took me about 30 minutes but that is just because I was going slow to make sure nothing was missed. If you were in a hurry you could have it out the box and in the hitch in about 15 minutes. If you are going to get a tray rack that only contacts the tires, you will not be disappointed in this one. Seriously it is a great rack. I wish they had a one tray option but I guess with my cycling group and kids the two trays will and have come in handy. It's a great rack, couldn't be more pleased with the purchase. ... show more

  • Amazing Rack, does everything I need!
I spent quite a bit of time researching racks to haul my bikes around that would be secure to deter bike thieves as well as rack thieves. My truck is often parked in public garages or streets and I wanted something that locked the rack (as best as possible) to the truck, while also providing a nice lock for the bikes themselves should I want to grab a bite while hauling bikes. I settled on this rack after some suggestions, and was skeptical of the price, but now that I've had it for a bit it's well worth it. I have a 3rd gen Taco 4x4 off road, and a big point of mine was to be able to use the tailgate with the rack mounted (loaded or unloaded with bikes whatever) This rack has just enough clearance to allow me access to whatever is in my truck and my topper with the tilt down feature. As far as security, the hitch bolt lock and the bike locks are substantial and I have faith they will stand up to all but the most determined thieves. The 3 way pivot hitch bolt system also makes for a super snug, not shaky fit into the hitch mount. Bikes themselves are very secure with the two arms and I have not noticed any issues even with bumpy Forest Service roads, highways, speed bumps etc. It's very stable The only potential CON is the weight - the rack is heavy (all metal, no plastic) and the chain for the bike lock is. Two small things in the grand scheme. I'd rather have a beefy heavy chain lock that a small light cable lock. Either way, super happy with this, well worth the money and does everything I need and more. ... show more

  • Simple, sturdy and amazing bike rack!!
This rack is so well made and the instructions to install are very simple to follow--the rack can be installed in under 15 minutes. I watched the Rocky Mounts video and I never imagined this would be so easy to install. This rack is very sturdy, well built and holds 2 bikes. I think it easily compares to a 1UP rack with how simple it is to use, the product quality and with the built in security features like huge lock that secures bikes to rack and vehicle it is the safest you'll find out there. ... show more

  • The rack is super easy to put together and install to the hitch.
A stabilizer is not required for this rack. I carry a 21 speed regular bicycle and a peddle assist bicycle with no problem. I highly recommend this bike rack

  • Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Best bike rack out there for the price.
This was the first, and probably last bike rack I will have to buy. It is solid and sturdy and made completely out of metal. I was super skeptical about dropping almost $1,000, but I mean if it protects and secures my $7,200 MTB to my car securely, then I guess it is worth it.

  • Absolutely awesome hitch rack
I was thinking about getting the 1UP SD bike rack with addon. But I did some research and knew that this rack was coming out. I have used a friends 1UP bike rack and though it is a really awesome rack, the RockyMounts rack is just better. The one hand operation tire holds are smooth and secure. The huge chain lock is easy to use. The assembly of the rack is very easy and done in minutes. Like I said, the 1up is really nice but this puppy takes it to the next level. ... show more

  • and the so-called warranty department is defective
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this bike rack the best one they had from this website on Amazon and never opened it till about a week ago when we put it together, the locking mechanism that it’s so-called comes with does not fit the hitch properly and the whole rack wobbles and then later the locking mechanism fell apart And the so-called warranty department told me to send the pictures and you can’t even send them to him because they won’t give you a phone number to call live and to talk to him when you send it to him. It says to large of things send another way so I tried another way in every way it was impossible. Customer Service awful don’t buy anything from these people , they could’ve at least called me and said sorry ... show more

  • Awesome Rack!! What can make it better?
Let me start with I am extremely pleased with this rack from quality, ease of use and security. Def upgrade from 1up. No question this will last with great warranty to back it up. I bought this for $680 which is def worth it at this price compared to competitors that attach to the wheel similar to 1up but still pricey for what it does. What can make it even better? - ability to fold similar to quikr rack if storing in garage - integrated brake lights since bikes block existing lights - lighter but I'm pleased with the weight for me - tool free to install to hitch - ability to turn into 1, 2 or 3 bike rack tool free Again if it could do all these it deserves 5 stars. Update - look into Kody Technologies if you want custom brake lights on your rack. Great quality and customer service. ... show more
