Description

This Rocky outback's upper was assembled with premium full-grain leather; while it is certainly very soft, the material has great durability and strength. Having a lace-up design on this outdoor boot is fantastic, because it allows you to adjust the fit. This boot has a fully padded collar and tongue to help keep out debris. After all, no one wants to walk around with rocks and dirt rolling around in their boots while they are trying to enjoy their experience outdoors. Gore-tex fabric has been added into the design of this footwear having it ensures that these outdoor boots will remain durably waterproof, breathable and windproof. To enhance your level of comfort within these 8729 boots, a Rocky air-port footbed has been inserted. This polyurethane insert helps cushion your steps and aids in absorbing shock. Are you hesitant about the boot's grip don't be... the outback rubber outsole provides fantastic traction and allows your footing to be steady when you're walking on rugged terrain. Whether you're headed for the hills or going to work, this rugged and good-looking Rocky outback gore-tex outdoor boot (8729) with moc-toe styling will keep you dry and comfortable.

  • 60 miles and two hurricanes later and still going strong
Size: 9.5 Color: Light Brown
I purchases these boots to help with my growing hiking hobby not too long ago, but I've refrained from giving a review until I'd given them a proper test or two. Nature decided that'd be quite a few tests. Comfort: These boots are nothing special as far as comfort goes. They have decent support but nothing great. They broke in nicely and fit comfortably snug (a desired trait in hiking boots). The toe flexes without pinching or crushing my toes. The soles provide decent support, but I would personally recommend using some aftermarlet insoles such as Dr. Scholl's if you intend to wear these indoors for any longer period of time. My only complain with the comfort is that the ankle is more flexible than I'd prefer, which can result in a rolled ankle or two if I'm not extra cautious when hiking in unsteady terrain. Waterproofing: The goretex layer within the shoe works as intended. I've tread through shin-deep water, with the water line hardly an inch from the top of the boot's tongue and had no leaks whatsoever. The downside of this is that, in order to achieve such a seal, the boot does not breathe at all. It is important to note that this will be an issue for any waterproof boot. Just be ready for hot sweaty feet on warm day hikes and cold sweaty feet on cold day hikes. I've found that water wicking boot socks help mitigate the sweat build-up on warm days and wool or thick wool blend socks help for the cold days. Durability: This, I think, is where these shoes really shine. I've walked through streams and puddles, trekked in rain and hail, and hiled over gravel and boulders in these, dropped knives on them (I don't recommend testing their cut resistance, but they should hold against a dropped tool), spilled oil and stain, fended off my wild pup, and beaten the snot out of these boots. In other words, I've put these through the ringer. hey're tough as nails, with only wrinkles and mild discoloring from the water and a few scratches to speak of. Summary: These boots are beyond excellent for the price point. With the proper socks for the job and possibly an aftermarket insole, they'll last you for as long as you need them without taking a tole on your feet. I'll definitely be looking at other Rocky brand boots for my next pair- if I ever need to replace these. ... show more

  • Go with the wide if you have average feet
Size: 11 Wide Color: Light Brown
Fit was true, but definitely go with wide. Not a very defined heel, going downhill on wet terrain would probably be a bad idea. Small to moderate amount of time needed to break in. Feet will stay dry, save for sweat buildup. It will be necessary to change wool socks every so often. Completely waterproof, but water does not bead off the surface. Wet spots will eventually dry. ****Another reviewer suggested spraying the boot with waterproofing spray to prevent the boot from becoming heavier after soaking in water. But I found no difference in weight, maybe it would be easier to tell between a wet boot and a dry boot if you were fatigued enough from walking. Very tough but supple sole. Although, it’s not as thick so those with underdeveloped ankles, underdeveloped foot muscles or just bad feet may feel that the support is lacking over long hikes/rucks. Very good ankle support, there were several instances where the boot gave me the opportunity to correct my footing before I rolled an ankle. Overall, a very good construction that can be expected of the Rocky brand. ... show more

  • Solid and Comfortable
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Light Brown
First time ordering boots online. Usually wear 11, but took other reviewer's advice to get half a size down, not only for a better fit, but I noticed that anything above 10.5 didn't register as genuine leather? Not sure if this is a glitch or not, maybe Rocky could clarify this? Anyways, I wanted genuine leather so I got the 10.5W. The boots didn't need to be broken in, they were quite comfortable right out of the box, fit well with both thick wool socks as well as regular crew socks. I walk for an average of 7-10 hours a day and have no issues. Stitching is great, laces seem fine (we'll see how long they last), Gore-Tex is a plus, color is true to the photos, love the Moccasin look. All I'm going to do is coat them in mink oil for general care. Great product so far, we'll see how long I can keep them for. ... show more

  • 2 WEEK UPDATE
Size: 10 Color: Light Brown
Great fit, super comfortable, super lightweight and they look amazing and feel very close to wearing my Nike 5.0 running shoes. I’m hoping Rocky continues to make these for awhile. Either way I’m ordering 2 more pairs just in case if they don’t. Definitely recommend to get these if you’re considering these. *I ordered a half size smaller than what I’m use to based on what other users commented on, and I too agree with ordering a half-size Down. UPDATE 12-14-2018 So after about a week of wearing these my outside bunions (outer pinky foot toe side) was hurting badly. Either they shrunk in size or I should have ordered EE Double Wide boots as opposed to D Reg. Width. No problem and no change to quality because I took both boots to a shoe repair place (Cobbler) ($15)to have the width stretched. The process took 3 days but they are now the perfect fit. ... show more

  • Perfect, durable
Size: 10 Wide Color: Light Brown
Love the fit and style. Lining works well in hot and cold weather. If my current pair ever wears out, will be ordering again. Recommend you do the same! Originally purchased spring of ‘22. Wear 2-3 times a week for business casual office work and light duty work/projects/service work. Hiking about once a month. Still holding up great, very comfortable. ... show more
