The media could not be loaded. Set it all up and turned it on. Husband didn't even know it was on until he went and looked at the end of the hose and saw water coming out. We are impressed with it. I use it a puddle that forms up in a driveway because of a slow drain. When the puddle fills up I have to tip it and let the air bubble out and then it springs to life and starts pumping out the water. This should happen automatically- it does not.

The media could not be loaded. Edit to add that the check valve broke in half after a couple weeks of light use. It looks to be glued together with the smallest amount of adhesive imaginable. I’ll try to super glue it, but this just reaffirms my comments below that this pump is complete hot garbage. The automatic water sensing didn’t work right out of the box. The pump randomly fails to run when submerged, or just runs and runs after the water is removed. The attached video shows the pump running for over a minute on empty. I’m dealing with some flooding and have to check the pump constantly to either unplug it or give it a firm shake to get it to restart, which completely defeats the purpose. The pump is also very sensitive to any debris or uneven ground and has occasionally been running without pumping any water. I sent this video to the company, and they acknowledged the problem but refuse to send a warranty replacement. I had a problem with Prime sending me several packages late, so Amazon customer service inexplicably marked this pump as undelivered and refunded the purchase as a solution. I didn’t ask them to do that and only wanted a credit for part of my annual Prime fee. Because of that, the manufacturer won’t send me a working pump under warranty. Amazon screwed them so they’re screwing me in retaliation, and now I have to go find an alternative. If you need a reliable pump and a good company that stands behind their product, look elsewhere. ... show more

Love this pump! Stops when water level goes below a certain point, which is great if you forget it’s running. I don’t think it’s that noisy either. Seems to pump at a good rate too without getting clogged by any debris. I recommend!
